K, i know theres been good shows throughout the yeasrs, but tv these days aint half bad either.
    Some of my favourite:

    Scrubs
    Stargate SG1
    Malcom in the Middle
Batchelors Walk (I dont quiet understand how something this good came from RTE!!!!)

These are better than the 'classics', right?

    Stargate is getting old..
I like oz and family guy

Yah, Stargate has been around since 1997.

I'm sure 24 will get lots of mentions although i've never seen it.

Season 1 of Alias was very good.

Scrubs I find consistently hilarious. 24 looks great too but unfortunately I missed the beginning so I'm finding it hard to follow.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is the best comedy since Seinfeld, and I loved 24 although like kolodny I missed a good bit of it.:(

It didnt. Its an independant production. RTE paid for less than half of it along with the BBC.

Its not too new, but Coupling is great.

Oz is currently the best thing on tv.Unfotuneately hardly anybody I know has seen it,no matter how often I tell them to.Apart from Oz Phoenix Nights,The Royle Family and the Sopranos are the best tv to be made fairly recently.Family Guy was excellent in its first series but the second wasnt as oggd.Ive been watching the new one now though and its fairly good.

Freaks & Geeks, which I watched for the first time last night and was quite funny :]

    And Oz.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

Well I would say Oz but considering it's currently at the end of it's fourth and penultimate season it's hardly brand new.

The only shows I'd bother setting the VCR for these day are Oz and Six Feet Under. Both are HBO shows coincidentally?

Scrubs was ok but the humour is wearing a little thin at this point. The show 'Popular' did humour of that ilk better IMHO.

Whats this new comedy they're showing... Sausage Factory?
Haven't seen it yet (does't look great from the ad), but i'm assured that it's very funny.

    24 I never got into.
Family Guy is worth watching just for Stewie!!

Black books is class and so if family guy and the office nad phenix nights does anyone know if either brass eye or jammed is coming back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

I would not be suprised if they did another special Brasseye, doubt there will be a second series of Jam although there was on the radio called Blue Jam.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 183 ✭✭fester

If you can find Blue Jam on the internet, you should download it. There's a lot of the same sketches as in Jam... but it;s still worth it!

I dont think i'd ever be in the mood for Jam again (one series is enough to disturb me), but it was good while it lasted :/

Scrubs & Peter Kay's Phoenix nights.

Scrubs wins it by a nose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

Some of the sketches were too surreal actually they all were. some bloody hilarious ones though. ;)

    Scrubs
    OZ
    Six Feet Under
Freeks And Geeks (Should have got a second series, I miss them)
Undeclared (from the people that brought you Freeks and Geeks)(So much better then Sausage Factory)

Freaks And Geeks (Should have got a second series, I miss them)

That was cool, was there just one series?

    Undeclared, quite good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,641 ✭✭✭✭Elmo

Yep Freeks and Geeks only got one airing on NBC first time round then they stop showing it half way, then Fox bought the rights because the critics where saying how good it was. Then since all the actors had so many good things said about them the got other jobs in movies and other tv shows and thus Fox were unable to make another series. The new girl in Dawson's Creek, guy from Spiderman, Zelma in Scubby doo, etc.

    CSI is another good show.

TV coming from the states gets better and better each year. British TV has gone down in the last few years. Why don't they make shows like Cracker and Prime Suspect anymore, rather then just more and more soap operas???? (Actually Waking the Dead is quite good).

And Skys version of Fear Factor looks better then the american one.

The British Fear Factor is a load of crap from what I've seen, rubbish stunts/tasks.
