Pizzas. Very tricky. I've had pizzas from Italian restaurants that to be honest did not suit me at all. Bread with ketchup :P

My faves at the moment have to be Pizza Hut and Apache, but this will depend on which PizzaHut/Apache you go to. Love love the garlic bread in Apache. Love love the buffalo wings in Pizza Hut. Or homemade pizzas, nyom nyom.

Are you for real?? Do you work there or something?
That pizza is disgusting, they let it sit out for ages because they do so little business so you're eating pizza that's been sitting out for...I don't want to imagine how long.....plus the people who work there don't seem to have heard of hygiene, rarely wear gloves etc.

    Mank!
Dominoes is my fave take away, but Goodfellas ciabatta pizza is gorge.

    In concur.

Although here in Galway, Monroes is the daddy. You can't beat being able to order a pizza to go with your pint. Taytos just can't compete.

Most people say that the best pizza you can get is not in Italy, but in New York

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,524 ✭✭✭✭Gordon

The best pizza is either in Athens or in my gaff.

D'you know how easy it is to make pizza? dead easy matey. Just need some yeast and flour and toppings, it is sooo cheap. yadda yadda

umm Pizza Hut thin crust but have never tried the fabled cheese crust.. mmmmm

My Gran's homemade pizza is nyom! My local tkeaway is not bad either. In desperation I might go to Pizza Hut or Domino's., sometimes Apache. I just can't make up my mind today. :(

Well theres a lot of Southern Italians in NY, the South of Italy is where the best pizza's are made because of the climate which has a great effect on the out come of the dough. Thats one of the reasons Pizzas made here even by Italians are nowhere near what you get over there, some try to alter the recipe to allow for the humidity here. Also in Italy ALL good pizza places use proper fire ovens not electric and believe me that changes the flavour completely. Fire ovens are hard to have here because of strict fire regulations. Even people in the North of Italy where I stay admit that you can't beat Pizza's from the South because of the climate. So whoever said making pizzas is easy hasn't ever tasted a real one :)

Well, there was a place across the road from where I was staying in Harlem New York that made the nicest pizzas I've ever had.

But in Dublin, Mizzoni's is your only man. In fact they even seem to give a damn about their customers too, unlike Four Star Pizza whom I'm glad to see have got zero votes so far. I hope they go out of business actually.

Restaurant pizza - Pizza Hut is the best chain I think, I worked for one in New Jersey for three months and ate for free there every day! In Dublin, South Street on Georges St. makes very nice pizza, and it's cheap before six. There's also a little place on Parliament St I can't remember the name of, it does fantastic thin-crust pizzas.

Supermarket pizza - Ristorante (don't know if you get it over there) is quite nice, I can't take Goodfellas any more.

Homemade pizza is yum alright, but a bit time consuming.

Antonios does the job for me too, but that was a while ago. The last few times I have eaten there, the base of the pizza was burnt. I say the same for 4 star even though there is no comparison between the two. I've been eating out of Dominos for quite a while now. I have one of those promotion card thingies that enables me to get half price pizza (and freebies) all the time.

As for Monroes, I know the pizza is good there, I've had it once or twice, but the honest to god truth is that I always see Domnick St. as being a bit awkward. I like to roam around town, instead of heading out towards Salthill, so being lazy I'd always opt for getting something within 2mins walk.

Does monroes do delivery by any chance?

    ;-phobos-)

After monroes I have to agree that Antonios does lovely pizza. I havn't eaten there for a couple of years now but I used to go in with some friends because we had "Two for One" vouchers.

    Mmmmm ... pizza!
