Just to alert people to this. From mid August to late September there will be a season of Kurosawa's best films. I highly recommend people go to these films, as they are some of the best ever committed to the medium.

Highlights include: Seven Samurai, Rashomon, Yojimbo, Red Beard. (errr, everything tbh)

Its worth becoming a member of the IFC just for this....

The Seven Samurai kicks booty well worth a look. A mate of mine bought it on DVD I was watching it for the first when about halfway through the screen goes dark and the word INTERMISSION pops up on screen. It stays there for 15 minutes. On a dvd. Surreal.

Is there music playing during the intermission?

The Lawrence of Arabia DVD has the intermission and overture restored (which means about 15 mins of music with no picture)

Don't feel like going to while way up to Dublin - shame, I've not seen Yojimbo

No nothing just INTERMISSION. I went and made a cup of coffee and smoked a cigarette while staring at it, alone, about 2 o'clock in the afternoon with the curtains drawn. It did serve to concentrate the mind.

DVD then 14.99 at play (even before shopping around). I'll add it to my "get soon for my own good" list (I do have one)

Just in Galway at the moment, you can rent a Sh*t load of Kurosawa films from a little movie store beside the Tatch Pub at the University Rd

Good news. I haven't seen most of his films, I'll have to try and make it in for most of them. Cheers for the heads up Lex.

The DVD commentary on Yojimbo is great, by the way. I know I'll be going to see the Seven Samurai.
