Once again I am considering purchasing the Premiership Plus season ticket for the 40 extra games. However now that Sky have got the rights back for the Nationwide leagues I was wondering if the Premiership Plus coverage will clash with the Nationwide league. I really don't want to miss out on any of the action so if anybody knows how Sky plan to fit in all the footie I would be most grateful!

Doesn't say in the customer magazine. But there's 60 live games which ain't half bad. Also coverage of playoffs, Worthless Cup & LDV Trophy. Not forgetting Bundesliga and Primera Liga. It's just a pity they don't have Seria A rights as Channel 4 haven't got good coverage anymore. :(

Call me cynical, but will Sky not simply spread the football out over SS1, SS2 and SS3. That way it will ensure that a humble subscription to SS1 will suffice - this season to enjoy all the football action you will need SS World.

I wonder if there is anything in the contracts of either the Premiership deal, or the nationwide deal that prevents or minimises this?

before Sky lost the Natiowide League to ITV Digital they showed it on SS2/SS3 with interactive coverage on SSE. i can see no reason why they would change it now. some of the Nationwide League, and no doubt La Liga, games this season will be exclusively live on SSE so a minimum of Sky Sports World will be needed to see all games. with the SPL gone from Sky i'm hoping for more live Bundesliga. last season was a disgrace

The chairman of the football League was Sky Sports News when the deal was signed, and said they'd be taking the Scottish Soccer Slot and there would be Friday night matches. So that would be 5.30 on a Saturday?

Dont worry, the games wont conflict. Premiership Plus is worth too much to Sky.

But remember that the SPL games on BBC1 Scotland will also have a kick-off around 2:00pm, same as the Premiership PPV games.

Also announced this morning, BBC 1 will be showing the Manchester United qualifiers for the Champions League.
The first leg will be away to either Zagreb (Croatia) or Zalaegerszegi (Hungary) on Wednesday, 14 August with kick-off at 7:45pm.

The second leg at Old Trafford will be played on Tuesday, 27 August with kick-off at 8:10pm.

Helps to have an ex-Manchester United director as DG, eh? :)

And lets hope is a taste of things to come, i.e. getting Champions League games through the season on BBC tv from next season.

There should not be any conflict between live matches screened on any of the Sky Sports channels or on Premiership Plus. The most obvious potential conflict will be between the Sunday Premiership Plus live games and SPL matches screened by the BBC.

There are plenty of pre-season games live on TV prior to the start of the new season. A couple that you may have missed and may be of interest to those with FTV cards are live on Channel 5 over the next few days:

    Real Madrid v Liverpool - Friday 2nd August @ 20:30

    1860 Munich v. (the Mighty) Arsenal - Saturday 3rd Aug. @ 18:30

Interesting. What pub has Channel 5? I would have thought that they would have to be very careful showing Channels that are not officially available.

A few of the better known 'sports' pubs have Channel 5. One that springs to mind is The Cuckoos Nest in Dublin. I am sure that there are others also.

As far as I know (and someone will doubtless correct me if I'm wrong!) the Football League games which used to be on Sunday lunchtimes about 1.00 on Sky Sports will be shown in the old SPL slot-5.35 on Saturdays.

Live Nationwide games will be shown at 17.35 on Saturday evenings as well as midweek games.

Skys full list of live games can be found here:

Interestingly, the Ireland's home game in October has not been pencilled in for any channel yet. I know Sky have promised to show it on Sky One, but I bet that will be only for Ireland. Could this be the first instance of an Irish Opt-out?

    If so, yes.

    Regionalia from Sky!

    (Remember Sky Scottish???)

Is Premiership Plus worth getting as I am seriously thinking about it, I have just taken the plunge and got Sky Digital and was curious if this is worth the £40 (before September) price tag. A mate told me that games are on Sundays at around lunch time, this sounds good to me, especially with a dirty hangover as I can sit back and watch footy for the evening! Any help is appreciated!

    mfield.

Well I subscribed to it. It's €64 for the 40 games. Lot of the games are on at 2pm on Sunday followed at 4pm by the game on Sky Sports

I just got digital installed on Monday (just in time for the start of the season). I believe I subscribed to the all inclusive Sports package.

When I put on SS Extra for the Nationwide match last night, I got "Channel Not Available 8" message.

Does anyone know why? presumably Extra is part of the package?

It may take a bit of time for all of the channels to come through, but it should not be more than 24 hours. If it is not there this evening, give sky a shout at 1800 535 767 and ask them to sort it out.

Thanks. I called SKY and they ran through all the usual checks and said they would update my system. 24 hours later, still no change.

I called them again last night and was told that Sky Sports Extra was a free channel but was not available to subscribers in ROI!!!!!

After politely pointing out that this is not true - that it's plastered over all the advertising literature, contract etc. - they said that they would have to send me a new card.

Fine, except that to do so, they would have to disable my current card (for security reasons) and I can only watch the FTA channels in the meantime - anything up to a week!

Considering, I mainly bought SKY for the Premiership, I'm obviously not too happy.

It seems ridiculous that with all the technology at their disposal, they cannot manually override their system and allow me to continue using my current card until the new one arrives.

It is completely ridiculous to cancel your old card before the new one arrives. Surely they could allow an overlap of a few days to allow you to use the system.

I presume they have allowed you a credit against the August subscription?

Can anyone tell me when the £40 offer on Premiership Plus ends? I fear it may have ended already :( but I am not too sure. If I order it, am I able to pay for it through direct debit, like I pay my Sky Digi subscription? Any help is greatly appreciated!

    mfield.

I am not certain but I think it finished on the 27th of August.

And yes, you can pay through direct debit.

Premiership Plus MUST be paid by Credit Card only. No direct debit.

Ring 1 800 535 767 and look for an operator. However, I think it finished on 27th AUgust but as we're in Ireland and very easy going they might not refuse your €64!!

Well looking at Channel 433, I see Season Ticket has went up in UK from £40 to £50 so it will have went up in ROI too accordingly to around €75 at a guess.

And indeed, as I learned, they will only accept Credit Card (or IIRC Switch). Dunno why they won't accept DD but they sure won't.
