It seems like they are finally getting underway with ADSL in Galway.

I submitted to the website months ago, having not received any response for ages I rang them a few weeks ago and they said the Mervue exchange is opened up in August.
I just got a call from them a while ago enquiring if I was still interested based on the Information I had submitted on the web site.

Alas I am moving house (due to substantial rent increase) and will most likely be beyond the 2.5 - 3.5 km reach of ADSL :(

heh.the only reason they can open us mervue is because they have the place "wired" with optic fiber(i'm on it as we speak)
which as far as i can tell has 80gb/s bandwidth back to dublin.(DAMN then fro changing their site around to this "user friendly"CRAP!the old one was way more accessable)

lol, I'll believe it when i see it,
I was talking to the techie who was installing my ISDN box today (Very nice guy) and he told me that it is very unlikely that it will be out any time soon. both Esat and Eircom employees work for both companys he said, and since neither had been trained that it wasnt going to happen too soon.
Apparently, the exchange in mervue is shared by both companys so Eircom could just follow suit. Afaik that I will stick to my combo of ISDN and Nolimits for the time being.

I know someone who is a test partner for esat and they were supposed to have it installed in August but it's been pushed back until september because they are supposedly having problems with Eircom and their exchanges. So if the test sites are not going to be live until september I seriously doubt it will be available to the general public for another couple months!!
