I've been using musicmatch jukebox for about 3 years now and I like it a lot. There's a downloadable demo available http://www.musicmatch.com/. The demo only rips to 96kbps unless you get a registration code but just ask around and you'll be able to find out what it is. ;)

    CDex

It's free and it works a charm. Rips to WAV & MP3 up to 320kbps.

Make sure to get v1.4 or later if youre using XP.

I can't fault audiograbber. Sure, you have to register to get full benefit, but its only $20.

I also recommend CDex - it does pretty much everything that audiograbber does, including cddb lookups, and its free. Uses the great LAME encoder by default too.

    Can't fault it.

CDex - Downloaded it but problems with the ASPi drivers. I've downloaded them as well and put them in the correct folders (\winnt32\system) but getting same error - any suggestions.

Musicmatch Jukebox - Basic is 8.91Mb to download so is taking an eternity - better be worth it!!

if you just want to rip waves & have windoze 9x. try cdfs.vxd, it lets you copy waves directly off of a cd in explorer, pretty damn handy.

EAC (exact audio copy, http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) is the best. It double checks every sector and if there are problems will recheck again and again. check it out.

It's free and very popular also cf: http://www.freedb.org/freedb_stats.php?type=monthly&topic=clients

    You'll have to get a lame binary ... http://irgendwas.mybinaryblocks.com/~mitiok/

use the --r3mix if you want the best quality mp3's http://www.r3mix.net/

I've encoded about 300 of my cd collection using the above and it rules.

anyone here know of a cd ripper that lets you rip multiple tracks into 1 wav/mp3 file?
i have other ways of doing it, but this would save a fair bit of time

I know audiograbber can do it. I've read about it (but haven't had to try it). Check out the forums on the audiograbber site for more info.

i'll let you know in 10 mins
    /edit
yup, seems to do the business, i don't have any cd's without gaps between the tracks, so i can't tell if it's any good for mix cd's.

all you have to do is:
select the tracks you want, go to copy, click the 'advanced' tab, then change copy mode to 'on-the-fly single file output'
    groovy
