Didnt know if this should be in tv or in sci-fi. Feel free to move it to wherever you think it belongs..

What y'do is, post all nominations for the best sci-fi show on tv. only one show may be nominated. 2 weeks from now (10th of august), the most popular shows will be collected and posted in a poll.

    I nominate;
    The Outer Limits

    Quantum Leap

Have to agree with the Outer Limits. Not always good, but when it's good, it can be very good.

And I'm getting into Quantum Leap - missed it the first time, saw the odd ep as time went by, picking them all up now on UK Gold.

    Stargate SG1

Yep, Stargate SG1 is a very long way ahead of pretty much every other sci-fi show on TV at the moment.

Enterprise is occasionally promising but so utterly crap and derivative at other times as to be unwatchable; same deal as Farscape, actually. Farscape, when it's good, is very very good, and when it's bad it's so mind-numbingly bad that it'll scar you for life.

Outer Limits and SG1 are the best at the moment but SG1 is takeing a kind of slide in quality recently.

I have seen the majority of Quantum Leap episodes including the Finalé. Good show, but a bit old.

The 12Monkeys... can that count for sci fi

SG1 owns the utter pants off everything else. If you consider Alias as 'sci-fi' then that would come a close second.

D-Gen: What SG1 season are you watching? S5 was a bit disappointing but season 6 has been excellent so far, back up to its normal high standard.

Enterprise occasionally is half decent showing some promise, but the rest of the time it's mind-numbingly boring. Outer Limits is extremely hit and miss, some episodes are excellent, but a lot of them are utter cack. Haven't seen Farscape.

What channel is Quantum leap on? Sky One are yet again showing TNG on at god knows what hours, they seem to be showing shitty season 1 episodes though. A few weeks back they showed Yesterdays Enterprise (superb episode) and the tng finale, All Good Things. I guess they started it over again.

Yeah Total Recall 2070 ( I thought it was 2050 tbh, but then I am blind!) is pretty good.

Sg1 used to be very good but has gotten a bit worn for me now.

    Andromeda = pants

Enterprise, when its good is quite good but some of the episodes can be a little trying...

Roswell -> Bit soap opera'ish tbh. Still, plenty of nice looking wimin in it.

I'll have to go with SG1 also.
    It really is brilliant.

I think Quantum leap is on one of the channels between Sky and Granada Plus (106 - 118)
I am watching the series of SG1 that finished on Sky last March or so.

    SG1 win's hand's down.

    Andromeda would be second.

Im not gonna bother listing any more as there just crap.

My vote would go to the old series of Earth 2 currently showing on Net2.

PLus its got that actor who played drill sergent ZIM in Starship Troopers in it. You know the one who busted him self to private just so he could fight the bugs?

I'm enjoying the old episodes of ST:TNG. It's reminded me how bloody awful DS9 and Voyager were in comparison.

I think SG-1 will be winning that poll and I have to agree.

I really dont think Alias counts as sci-fi but if it did I'd put it ahead of SG-1. I used miss it on Wednesdays on sky but I'd catch the repeat on Saturdays. Then sky stopped showing it on Saturdays so I missed the end of the series. Damn!

    SG1

Andromeda on occasion will tickle my fancy but overall its not great.

Dark angel is great simply for the lead actress whose name escapes me.

    Andromeda is muck.

    Stargate is fantastic.

I love Farscape. There are some fabulous lines in it.

I just saw the SG-1 Ep where Tealc gets stuck in the gate - that has to be my favourite ep to date, all the politicing and that scientist with a huge ego was fantastic. The thing that I thought let down SG-1 was when they seemed to killed a gould every other month.

Farscape gets my vote though, I just love the whole feel to the show. Yeah sometimes it misses, but at least its not Sci-fi by the numbers.

Nothing out there at the moment is as good as B5 was though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,081 ✭✭✭BKtje

I could never get into B5 tbh :/
