IT used to be my job to give advicec on weedkiller and I knew nothing about it! But I did learn somethings from the horticulturist during my two years!

There are basically two different types of weedkiller; for use on grass and then the ones that are for use on paths were al organic material is killed. You need the later.

I GUARANTEE that pathclear will do the job for you. It even prevents anything from growing for up to 3 months (except moss, apparantly it encourags them!). OR if you want you can use round up. It comes in a spray form and its powerfull stuff. I've seen it take down a load of ivy that was growing on a wall.

    Happy weed killing!

Try Roundup. It costs a fortune but will kill anything it comes in contact with and is especially good for deep rooted weeds.

Try some napalm on those fúckers. That'll clear the weeds my friend.

I was going to suggest this.

Until next week when some seeds blow in and use the nice vacant spot you have provided. I hoed (sp?) my sister's patio / garden path yesterday and it's not something I want to repeat. One thing you might try is raking out the joint and filling them with sand (no nutrients).

I would try rotating the weed killers you use, it would appear that some more resistant varieties aren't killed by the brand you use. Sounds like a classic case of survival of the fittest and evolution.

You could cement up the joints in the slabs, but it would look cack and would be cracked by next year.

You could lift the slabs and lay black plastic under it (make sure you don't disturb the ground), allowing for drainage.

To lay paying in future, you must sterilise the ground beforehand.

    I really did lolol

ever try weeding patio slabs from a chair? pain the feckin a$$ lemme tellya! ;)
Last place I lived, massive weeds would spring up between slabs, so, once a years, in spring, a couple bottles of table salt between the cracks, not one weed all year, and never harmed the plants in the beds along the sides of the patio unless i went over the edge an even then.....

My sister has a third of an acre and I cut the grass the other day. Some areas had not been cut with the ride-on mower and had become overgrown. There were 2 weeds about 4 feet tall that despite my not inconsiderable nearly 14-stone would neither break, nor budge. I had to run the mower over them a half dozen times.

Merc, here in the U.S. we have Round UP. God Love Round Up. My driveway would look like a jungle of weeds if it weren't for the stuff.

HEHEHE Good Luck Weed Killer :D

Sorry I mis-stated that. I cut the three lawns - I only did the borders (walls, trees, buildings) on the third of an acre.

Ahhhh...Blimy...LOL:) At least you were helping. My brothers just stop by to check on me then state that "I need to mow my lawn"
Bahhhhhhh...And It wouldn't take then a hour and a half to mow and weed-eat my little yard.

Clean out the joints. Mix dry sand and cement and brush it into the cleaned joints.

I use Hytrol in extreme doses.
    It will kill everything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,683 ✭✭✭daveg

Indeed Hytrol will kill weeds and everything else for up to a year. Roundup can be used to kill grass at the edge of boundry's.
