Does anyone know where the name of Semple Stadium in Thurles came from. Person, place, neither?

I have no idea, but did anyone else notice the fact that Limerick won their second football game in a row this weekend ? What on earth is going on ? Could we be a half decent side at last ?

Limerick have finally realised that they need to focus their attempts on some other sport than hurling. :D

Well seeing as only cùpla bliana ò shin we had the hurlers and the footballers in the U/21 all-ireland finals i don't think that it's much of a shock.

The hurlers will be back with a bang, it's funny but i think the munster championship means a lot the supporters, just look at the crowd against tipp, and then that measly few thousand for the qualifier against cork.

We'll also see the glory hunters now against mayo on saturday, I remember on a cold wet winter's day, up in Camlough, Co. Armagh watchin the Limerick boys get the kit shicked out of 'em, me and about 4 others from limerick...

I'm a cork supporter born and bred but second to that I'd support Limerick cos my boyfriend is from there.

I think that the support at the tipp at the tipp match might have had something to do with the fact that Limerick did reasonably well last year, getting to the quarter finals through the back door system and came very close to beating tipp.

And they played brilliantly in every match too, despite the
    wides : points ratio.

But they're performance in the Tipp match this was disastrous. I was there in the Limerick Terrace and the atmosphere was terrible. The supporters spent more time criticising their own team than supporting them in the second half. "Cmon the camogie team" was a phrase I heard more than once :)
Personally I think that's why Limerick didn't have as much support at the cork match, that and the fact that the road from Limerick to thurles ain't the best.

That's just cause i wasn't there, first chamionship hurling match i wasn't at since about 1992. And I missed the qualifier against cork too, amazingly enough cause i could find no one that was going out to it to give me a lift.

    that's right :)

I'm ashamed to admit that I've actually been to more Limerick hurling matches than cork matches in the past 2 years :o

The fact that they made the step up to seniors is surprising.

Fine effort from Limerick on saturday, if only they could cut down on the wides, Somene like Corkery (supposedly the david beckham of the GAA!!!) on the team, would be handy.
