Booked a holiday with budget travel a while ago and am unable to go for a **** load of personal reasons (like loads!! ) Anyway I went in to cancel my holiday which was booked with 12 others.

They said I may as well till the last minute as I might be able to get someone else instead of me so I would at least get my deposit back. Anyway the lot I booked with went to pay and I get a call later saying I have to pay like 150 euro.

Is there anyway they can actually make me pay that ? Like there is no way in hell I'm paying a total of like 250 euro for a holiday I'm not going on!

I can get just about any note from a doctor thanks to those personal issues. Anyone know what I can do ?

Did you actualy get your deposit back?
If you canceled it early enough, you should get your deposit back no problem at all, and not have to pay anything.
The only price's that will rise, will be the people who you're traveling with, if you were staying in a room with 2 other people, they would have to pay an extra 30 euro or so each, to cover the expense of another person not staying with them(can't remember the word)
But about the letter, shouldn't you ring them and let them know that you actualy aren't going on the holiday with your mates, and you have nothing to do with the paying of fee's and with them going anymore? i don't think there's any law either about you *having* to pay either..

Claim it against the insurance. At least the travel agent can re-sell your seat then.
