Couriers - The lifestyle

    Have always wondered what its like to be on the road all day.

    I do drive a bike myself, and in the summer months must say there is very little that gives me more pleasure than to just sit back and ride.

    My preconception is that couriers are people that take life into their own hands , ie you decide when and how long you work for.

    What is the life like, why do you do it, what kind of money do (moterbike) couriers earn, would you say its a good way to earn a living for the independant minded?

    Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

    And is it anything like Snowcrash?

    <sorry.. couldn't resist>

    actually... it could actually be a pretty cool job. But i dunno... I'd say it gets dull after a while.

    I worked as a cycle-courier for a couple of months a few years ago (between Leaving Cert and College). I love cycling.

    There IS no lifestyle to being a courier. It's a ****ty job, and people (the company I worked for anyway ... dodgy cvnts) will dump on you first chance you get.

    The gardai also DESPISE you.

    Oh .. and the pay was shhhhheeee-ITE

    Depends on your attitude and if you are working with decent couriers (been lucky so far). Most Companies have the same attitude as lemming mentioned. i have been working as a courier for 6 yewars on and off. The best time to earn money is in the winter (with all the rain) and the worst is the summer(with all the students and office staff on holidays ther is never enough work to around.) I think it is the best job in the world but Ireland is not the best place to work as you are frequently asked to bend over the company barrel for no reason bar it being that time of the month. Its a handy job if you travel, as one good friend spends half the year travelling and the other half working.

    if you do it, you have to stick at it ( a few friends tried it and didnot last long, others are still doing it) I used to work in Electronics Boutique and gave up my job to become a courier. Never looked back.
