As a general rule of thumb which CPU is better
    A) Dell P3 933MHz
    B) AMD 1GHz

I would say the AMD 1Ghz is better than the INTEL P3 933Mhz

I would second that but it also might depend on the chip type... Gerry would know the specifics but if its the old core Athlon (slot A) and not the newer flip chip core (thunderbird) then it might be tight... im not sure what Intel did to their P3's when they changed over to socket 370 ... Although i did build one of them systems with the P3 933! It seems to me my old Athlon 650 is faster though... then again i had 512mb ram and the intel had 128 only...

If its a duron 1ghz, its very close ok, if its a thunderbird 1ghz it will be significantly faster than the p3, though not at all applications.
