whilst searching through www.emusanet.com , I saw "kazaa shuts down" on news bulliten.
KaZaa, the Dutch company created by Niklas Zennstrom who developed the FastTrack network, has announced it will shut it doors because it can no longer afford the cost of defending itself in its legal tribulations brought about by the major movie studios and record companies.

    This is old.

The important paragraph is of course

The collapse of Kazaa, however, is not expected to slow trading activity on the company's network, one of the most popular file-sharing sites in the world. Kazaa said it has sold the network to another firm that the music and film industry has not sued yet.

ps kazaalite uses the kazaa network. Whatever happens to kazaa will have an effect on kazaalite.

I dont think they can close it, theres no main servers.
Random users with high speed internet and fast computers are chosen as supernodes.
These help speed up things like searches etc.

    /me shrugs

The following is true of 99% of filesharing services
They are as slow as a county council roadworks project. The average 3-4 minute song takes 15-20 minutes to download
In the case of audiogalaxy, the worst of them all,the play button didnt work.
Why spend 20 minutes downloading a track when you can load a track on realplayer iin 10 seconds?
Realplayer may contain spyware, but so do most filesharing programmes. And at least realplayer doesnt send you ads[bar one that comes as you load your PC] and **** up your browser every 5 minutes.
Its like trying to find a needle in a haystack finding full albums in one file. And if you manage to they take 3-4 hours to download.

Will you shut up about damn realplayer :) and stop complaining about AudioGalaxy, it's dead.

even if kazaa does go you can just use WinMX. You choose who you download from so you can pick the best connection. Full songs can take as little as 5-6 minutes to download. It doesn't slowdown your surfing by a noticable amount either, right now I'm downloading a song and have 2 browser windown open and its all going smoothly. I switched to it from kazaa coz kazaa started fúcking up. oh yeah and no ads.

sorry about the blatant plug and all but it is seriously much better

Wow, how wrong can you be. Takes a minute for an average song for me. Having said that, im on broadband which a lot of people outside Ireland are on. Which is 99.99% of the people who use those networks

So it contains spyware (unlike kazalite) and ads (unlike kazaalite). Whats your point exactly?
Oh, real is ****e quality too m8, sorry to break it to you.

Theyll have what you want with about 5 minutes browsing the actual shop. Only takes about 1 minute to purchase it too.
