    okay,
well im going to buy myself a whole new setup, but here is what i picked out from komplett.ie, bear in mind i have 'never' built a pc before although i am well capable of it but i will need some help.
here is what i picked out from komplett...

    111553 Abit KX7-333 RAID Mainboard Socket A DDR - 188.52
    VIAKT333, ATA/133, ATX, 266MHz

    108989 AMD Athlon XP1900+ 1.6 GHz 266 MHz bus - 170.29

    108052 Cooler Master CPU-Fan Socket A/7/FCPGA - 14.62

    108754 Maxtor IDE ATA-133 60GB 7200RPM - 138.13

    106739 Hercules AGP 3D Prophet 4000XT 32MB - 57.57

    109494 NEC DVD player IDE 16x/48x (DV-5800) - 67.24

    109496 NEC Floppy Drive 3,5" 1,44MB FD1231H - 19.00

    111362 Crucial PC2700 DDR-DIMM 256MB CL2.5 6ns - 86.56

    108576 Creative Soundblaster Audigy Player - 96.48

the total being 834 euro or thereabouts for the above ^^

now i need a case/mobo/cpu/fan/dvd/mem/floppy/new gfx ( low spec will do as im taking the GF3 out of this pc ) sound card, and whatever else i can afford. I wont be needing a monitor. The pc will be a gaming machine and i have a budget of 1000 euro's , id like if i could get some feedback to what i have listed above or what somebody might recommend as a better choice to purchase. After i pick out what i need, what about cables ect will i need to buy them also ? or do they come with the mobo itself and floppy drives ? Once everything is put together and i press power for the first time when i enter the BIOS what do i need to do, i have done formats before so installing the o/s from scrath shouldnt be a problem. I got burnt before buying from dell and only getting an 'ok' machine, id prefer if this one wuld be 'future' upgradeable to an extent

Now i know there is plenty of other threads on new pc's but i feel my questions on bios, cables ect deserve a new thread,

other than that thx to anyone who replys!!

Click here for some outdated but still be useful guides on how to build a pc.

Your HD doesn't come with IDE cables but your motherboard should have some in the package.

You know what RAID is? Do you need it? Will you ever use it? If not, I wouldn't bother but that's just me.
