    (also posted in uk.rec.fishing.sea..)
Hi- i don't know if anybody has tried it, but apparently there are
quite a few large ray in Wexford harbour. (They have been netted and
spotted from boats). A 20lber was caught last year. I haven't heard fof
them been targetted, so I'm looking for some advice. Would
peeler/mackeral be the right bait to use. The other thing is where to
fish-Wexford harbour has plenty of mussel beds which are commercially
harvested-should I try and locate them and fish along the edges?? Has
anybody heard of anybody fishing for them here..?

    cheers

in my experiance the head of a mackrel is best bait for ray.
it's quite annoying to catch them as when they swim for yout bait their wings hit the line and looks like a bite.
well crab is supposed to be good, never tried it.

BUT when using mackrel head, the crabs will eat the eyes out and proceed to chow down on your bait :(

good luck!it's to bad(weather-wise) to go out :(
