i was refused a non-immigrant visa today..so whats next? Theres always the green card. But i want to be there from September-Dec..so i could go on the waiver agreement..only im scared they'll send me back..anyone have this experience? or refused too?
I dont think theres anything to lose going for the green card...$80 fee "until u win" registration...

yeah but if your only going to be here 3 months then use a holiday excuse!! 3 months is the max usually you can be in a country on holiday without needing a greencard/visa (correct me if im wrong someone!). If you plan on working though... try and get a sponsor... get a job at a multinational who needs language skills and they will sort it out for you usually! Where are you comming from? If in Europe i did not think you needed a visa as its open to euro members... at the very least you could get a UK visa iff poss and since its open between us and the UK you can then come here i think..

aye..u can stay 90 days visa free under the Visa Waiver Program .. however Immigration can detain u and send u right back, u cant appeal it.

I think its very hard for younger ppl like myself. Basically i dont really have many ties...i have an easy going job that'll be there for me when i get back (tho they never seen that) even tho i'll be in the job over a year when my intended flight in September was. So basically i can stay for the 90 days..its better than nothing i suppose

So if you go on holiday for America for 2 weeks you don't need any visa or do you need a holiday visa?

no u dont need a holiday visa...ur airline will give u a green (1-94) form and a white (US Customs) form..u fill them out on the plane and give them to the Immigration which u go thru on arrival then customs...however..immigrations can send u home if they dont like the look of u i guess hehe and u cant appeal that, its the main disadvantage of the Visa Waiver Program..thats what im afraid of since i was refused a visa im not sure if they'd let me in or not i dunno..its really up to them

If you were refused the visa and you plan a holiday trip for the same time you may get some flack.

Not sure what green card you are going for, but I am not aware of any that will take less then 2-3 years to process.

This is an important point from Hobbes. If you're going to try and use the Visa Waiver Program for the max stay (90 days) then they're gonna want to see lots of stuff like sufficient funds to cover that, where/why in one place so long?, proof of work to return home too etc.. etc...

Remember INS work on the 'guilty until prooved inocent' system ;) (well near-as-damnit) so it's up to YOU to prove to THEM that they should let you in... It'll have to be convincing esp having been turned down the work visa. You're nearly better booking a 2-week return ticket to help convince them you're just visiting (but then stay your max and then buy another ticket to get home when the time comes.. btw buy returns not one-ways even though you're not using the return flight; it's cheaper this way...)

yea i can get a letter off me boss..and a bank statement and me returns and all i suppose..im stayin at a hotel so i can have the confirmation numbers and all too..but i think i'll be ok..i was pretty scared the last time i went in the first time. But the guy didnt ask much, he didnt look at my tickets. he just took me passport and stamped the green stub on it, but i know to be wary..i was only going for 10 days that time. This time im goin for 8 weeks..which could be risky indeed. I hope i wont get stuck :(
