Who will be the new world cup Champion?

Ireland, France, Brazil, Argentine, any other European, African, American, Asian ect. Who will be the best? what is the chance for Ireland to win the world Cup this year? France has already lost against Senegal, can we expect an african team to win this year?

Argentina. It won't be an African team, not this time anyway. I'd love to see Portugal or Spain do well, because they have buckets of potential, but never seem to get anywhere in the competition.

I seen them against portugal a few weeks ago and for the 1st half with 10 of the full 11 out they were class but with a difference
The back 4 was mean as hell.
Whoever beats them will be champions.

That will, I believe, prove to be a meaningless result.

Mind you, I could yet be proven wrong, but... France are a far better team than what they were when they lifted the World Cup and better also than they were when they became European Champions. They're more skillful, disciplined and energetic a team than they've been in quite some time... plus they're out to defend their crown.

I still reckon, even after the Senegalese humiliation, that France will lift the trophy this year.

Well we saw Brazil and Italy today... Brazil were unimpressive, and their central defence looks quite poor indeed. They've got over the most difficult hurdle in their group, and shouldn't have any problems coming out on top. Their second round opponents will come from the easiest group so they should progress there aswell - but they'll be playing the Group A winners in the quarter finals... which could well be France.

Italy on the other hand looked very good indeed, they got two very well worked goals early on and just relaxed for the rest of the match. They're still my favourites to lift the trophy.

Yep after watching Italy and looking at the run it they will have if they win their group (which on todays evidence they will) they should make it to the Semis with no problems. Its looking good for Italy.

On that Brazil match, Rivaldo is a cheating scumbag, he gets hit on the knee with the ball and falls down like Mike Tyson smacked him one in the gob. I hope FIFA take some action against him because of that.

The ball was kicked at him though, which you just can't do, and nothing would have been made of it if he just ignored it. Not exactly sportsmanlike, but I think a lot of top players would do the same in that situation.

Hmm, well why not! If we beat Spain then we'll most likely only have to get past Italy in the QF's! It's not as if those are two of the best teams in the world or anything!

But I was just looking at the draw for the knockouts and what I did notice is that one out of the following : Sweden, Senegal, Turkey, Japan, Russia or Belgium IS GUARENTEED a place in the semi-finals! How unfair is that? Imagine we had got drawn in their bracket?
