Chorus - a great ad for Sky

I'm a Chorus subscriber in the Swords/Malahide area. All day yesterday the Cartoon Network channel was replaced with the Sky Guide channel (799 on Sky Digital, I think) telling us how great Sky Digital is and that it will be even better with Sky Plus. Nice own goal for Chorus, or maybe they really want us all to jump ship.

It looks as if they are simply taking the Cartoon Channel from the output of a Sky Digibox and plugging it into their head-end. Presumably, the box got reset, started up on the Guide channel and no-one in Chorus noticed.

it wouldn't surprise me if the majority of channels are taken off a Sky box. and 998 on Sky really is a wonderful channel. nice music in the background :)

Chorus actually got caught with their pants down when the BBC removed Ceefax from Digital satellite. When people went looking for Ceefax on BBC1 through Chorus they saw the page that we see through Sky. They had to change it back to the microwave feed but it was there for a good few days.

When my parents still had Sky you could see someone from time to time playing with the Sky EPG on BBC1, i.e. scanning up and down through the channels. Strangely enough Chorus are using a NI card because BBC1NI was on channel 101.

I think it might be different for Cable Companies who are rebroadcasting the channels with the consent of the broadcaster. It wouldn't be the same as if Joe Public did it.
