if so woh do ya reckon Ranners will get in? there's been talk talk of Geremi for the past few months but I don't think alot has to be done. We need cover for Gronk thats where De Lucas and also we need more strength and depth in the midle of the park.

He is after Flavio Conceçaio fom Real Madrid as well, and was also looking for Lòpez from Lazio, but Athlètico Madrid look like getting him because they can't get Riquelme.
I don't think there'll be much transfer action until afther the WC, many managers will use it to sound out potential buys.

Chelsea are only good for two things. Employing homosexual players and charging their hooligan supporters the highest ticket prices in England. What a team!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

a strong statement there regarding the sexuality of the players can you back that up? what you said there was a fecking disgrace.

Get off your high horse. I have it on good authority that Roberto DiMatteo (to name one) is gay. And I've noticed that you haven't bothered to defend your teams money grabbing ethos and disturbingly large hooligan element!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

every team has a hooligan element, so what if he is gay he was a quality player. Are you admitting that you are a homophobic git?

Wow you take a shot at hooligans but then end up sounding like one by being homophobic.

    Now that's smarts

Once again this board reconfirms itself as a haven for people who want to demonstrate their polical correctness to the point of dullness. To clarify for you fools who seem to want to jump down the throath of anyone who says anything mildly controversial on this board .... I am not a homophobe. To be honest I don't care about gay people one way or the other. Also you might note that I never said anything of a derogitory nature about them, so think about that before you vent your spleens next time.

I am just saying that the two things I associate with Chelsea are the aforementioned. Just as I would associate Wimbledon with "crazyness" , Rangers and Celtic with bigotry, Leeds United with racism and Man City with relegation!

Every team has, some more than others. I never said anything derisory about him, so please shut up. As to admitting being a homophobic git, I'm not the one getting hot under the collar about it so maybe you should take a stare in the mirrorif you're looking for a git.

Wow! And then you take a shot at ME and tell me what smarts .... all without sounding very smart.

I never brought up the chelsea having gay players thing because I don't give a monkeys about whether somebody is gay or not.
    You did.

"one man went to mow went to mow a meadow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Oh and suddenly it's impossible to bring up the subject of gay fooballers without being branded a homophobe by people like you? I think that's your problem, not mine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

you said chels are good for 2 things with the latter employing gay footballers I never knew that was a crime? there was no point bringing that up, you could have got away with the first statement but why did you bring it up mate? ok so your not a homophobe but it was a very irrelevant point you brought up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

I came on to find out if there were any chels supporters, there was no point for you to respond.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

this thread is getting tedious so lets just move on

    one more thing

"employing gay footballers" are not the words of mine but the words of you me old mucker

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,092 ✭✭✭Pigman

Hey hey hey! I just said "employed gay footballers" (without bias or context) and if you decide take it up the wrong way then it's your own fault.

For all you know I was commending C.F.C for their open-mindedness towards them but you never gave the comment fair go and decided tto take it as a put down.

It's not my fault noboby on this board cares about your team so if I decide to post a comment then it is my right to do so without getting the " " from you. If that's your only response to my comments then be sure to use "what-EVER!" in your next one. I'd expect nothing more from you.

I've been a Chelsea fan for more than 30 years now. I saw my first game in 1974 - Chelsea v Derby - a one-one draw where Osgood got the winner. I went to most home games and as many away games as finanacially possible all through my teens and early twenties. And contrary to popular opinion (ie those who've never been to a Chelsea game in their lives and are consequently talking through their ringpiece) most of the lads I went to matches with were good geezers. We had a laugh, followed our team and left the North Standers to do their thing while us beer handed herberts found the nearest pub and complained about how sh*t Clive Walker was. I think history has proven us to be right on all counts.

The current crop? Good defence (and the seasons goals against tally backs that up) and an attack that I wouldn't swop with anyone. I think most people acknowledge the problems is in midfield. Not enough bite or foward movement and doesn't score goals. Petit at long last is beginning to settle in and Lampard is also coming good, but we need at least a couple of BIG signings in midfield close season. Ranners is getting i right, but slowly. (Ferguson didn't turn Man U round overnight either). I just hope Bates can keep his itchy trigger finger quiet for long enough to let Ranieri do the job he was asked to.

top post mate. FL after a shakey start has improved immensely he's scored 7 times but played 15 times on the right as Gronk was injured, still not convinced with Bolo and JG but I'll give them more time, I think JG is more threathening although Zenden has scored this year.
It will interesting to see who Ranners will play as his CB's its Gallas Terry Dessa and even Huth I'd prob go for Gallas and Terry Dessa is immense but he's getting old but he will always be the rock. we can name names coming in but woh will leave? Obviously Dalla bona is one Stanic could leave also we need to ship out Morris who is a bad influence sure he can be a great player but not at CFC, bogarde joka(Ifeel so sorry for him doesn't deserve to be booed) ambrosetti(I can't beleive he's still here)
Do you have chels TV? they were discussing the great chels team in midweek.

Been looking around the fan sites and official CFC to see if Ranners is going swoop eagle-like for a midfield general. And what do I find? We're about to sign Cameroon's Massimo Maccarone from Empoli for £10m. A striker. Good idea CR. We don't have any good strikers. (Although there is also a rumour that Barcelona have offered £22m for Jimmy Floyd Bloodbank, so this could be in advance of letting Jimmy go and bagging the cash. The problem with this strategy is we know JFH will bag 25-30 goals next season whereas Maccarone could turn out to be the next Robert Fleck or Chris Sutton.)

On the plus side we've apparently signed Njitap Geremi, a well-rated right midfielder from Real Madrid, who was very impressive and scored in Cameroon's friendly against England yesterday. Stanic will probably be let go.

Ranners is also looking to get Real's Brazilian midfielder Flavio on a year's loan with an option to buy. He's also looking at Espanyol's Spanish Under-21 winger Quique de Lucas. All good news but I can't shake the feeling that we need an out and out midfield terrier - Wise/Keane type - and Jody Morris isn't really growing into the role, to put it mildly.

And in answer to your question, I don't have Chelsea TV, simply because it's not offered in the NTL digital package. If I could, I would.

Oh and Dalla Bona is officially on the transfer list, so they're looking to buy for the midfield just to stand still. And still no central midfielders' names are being scouted. Weird.

I think Barry Ferguson would be a very good signing, also I'd love us to get Dunn. I saw Geremi this morning looks a good player he's a great passer I think Mr Melchiot has been found out.

Pigman, the Headhunters have had their day, the most active firms nowadays are Man United, Cardiff, Spurs, Leeds, Stoke, etc etc. So far from sounding controversial, you sound an ignorant fool.
Either way, Glasgow Rangers have at least 2 gay players, that makes them have twice as many as Chelsea.
Chelsea charge the highest prices in the Premiership, Newcastle and many others are the price of a pint behind. Chelsea fans have got success for their money, in the past 10 years, 2 FA Cups (4 finals), A League Cup, a Europen Cup Winners Cup, and a regular top 6 finish. And their "hooligan fans" rerely complain about ticket prices. End.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,818 ✭✭✭Bateman

    And a European Super Cup.

I agree with most of whats been said, although I musst say I don't see the pressing need for a midfield battler, although the team might be quite thin if he lets Morris go (which he should).

Although Hasselbaink is 30 and 22m is very tempting, everyone knows he's going to get 25plus next season, so I don't think he should be sold. Do they really need the cash that much?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35 Rufus T Firefly

Midfield battler or silken-skilled weaver of pinpoint passes around the park? Either will do me. It just occurs to me that it's in the nature of the Premiership these days, that art must be allied to graft. That's Keane's strength, it's Vieira's strength. The midfield pitbull with skill seems to be a must have these days for successful Premiership campaigns. There just isn't the time or space for too much, ahem, self-expression these days in the English league.

Our current midfielders? Zenden, Petit, Lampard, Gronkjaer, Morris, Leon Knight, Stanic, Dalla Bona and Jokanovic. As I said Petit and Lampard are beginning to establish themselves. The rest? Patchy form at best. Pick any three or four and put them against a Man U or Arsenal best pick. Not encouraging. The other problem with our midfield is a resolute determination not to score goals. The only serious question mark I'd put against Ranieri's judgement was in selling Poyet. We could have done with him this season.

And do Chelsea really need money so badly? Well Chelsea Village is losing money hand over fist and Ranners has said he wants a cash (i.e. no player in part-exchange) deal for Dalla Bona. Poor sods. I might even chip in a few bob myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,818 ✭✭✭Bateman

Cue another rise in ticket prices, so.:(
Either way, I think Petit and Lampard has the makings of a fine partnership, for the moment anyway, Lampard for years, Petit maybe only for another season or two.
You are talking about Vieira and Keane, but apart from those two, there are really no more around, certainly none better than what we have.
Selling Poyet was indeed a mistake.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

well the summer signings have started with enrique de lucas he can play anywhere across the midfield although prefets to play wide.
Poyet handed in a transfer request so we had no option.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

I saw Geremi against us this morning he's ok I think ppl are being a bit overcritical of him especially on the CFC site, he can cross a ball consistently whcih something our wingers can't do on a regular basis. I saw Gronky too for Denmark he contributed alot including for the goal.
