Does anyone have any experience with tracing hackers ?

My site last week as hacked by someone and i got their IP address. I found out that it was an eircom.net one . And i email abuse@eircom.net. So how good are my chances on finding this knacker ? Do i have to get a court order to find out anything more {this would be overkill i know , but is it an option} ?

    Ring them with the following:

    ip, exact time and date.

What damage the person did and perhaps have a quote for a fix.

Ask them to take it further. i.e contact the police.

    Regards,

    Paul
