Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i'm looking for something akin to tool. nice good n heavy rock but minus the ****ty growling in a lot of otherwise cool metal.

got some opeth last week. pretty good... but why the growling??? it sounds **** and just detracts from the music. booooo!

anyway, anyone got any recommendations(and no nu-metal ****e)?

ater draconis's first cd was nearly all instrumental and it's pretty good. can only get it off mp3.com :( after that helmet are pretty good, check out the irish band tooth.ie , mostly non screaming vocals.
after that it really depends on how much growling you can take(i'll take it you dont want any ay all)

Unfortunatly, I could reconmend a LOT of things, but the best vocalists always alternate between vocal styles.

If you can handel a bit of "Grim" Vocals, I'd reconmend Borknagar.
Each and every vocalist they had is a classicaly trained Opera singer.

But, if you want nothing but clean vocals, I'd say listen to Iced Earth.

oops! forgot Quo Vadis, some clean(they used to have an opera singer) some not so clean vocals..check out dream to see what i mean.

Megadeth(Rust In Peace), Overkill(Years Of Decay) or any of Halford's bands(Judas Priest, Fight, Halford). Not too much growling there.
    Anyway, what's wrong with growling?

If you're looking for something along the lines of Tool try Perfect Circle, same style. Maynard from Tool is also in Perfect Circle. Not growly at all.

Really? Wow. Excellent, thanks. What with living under a rock for the last 3 years n all I'd never heard about that. Anything else happen while I was gone? I'm off to New York on Thursday. Can't wait to see them Twin Towers. I hear the view from the top is fantastic.
