Mac P/Shop6 problem

Can anyone help, I'm using a G4 OS 9.2 and Photoshop 6. When i import an illustrator EPS and try to save it as a jpeg it says there was a "Program error" The save for the web option was working for a while but doesn't now, Ive tried dumping the pref's and re-installing the application but no joy.. Try
1. Making it into a JPEG in illustrator
2. Turning it into a bmp file and then try it
3. Try it with GraphicConverotr with a EPS PLugin or image editor such as EPStoPICT.
