I've seen a picture of the logo elsewhere...

RI:SE is put in a font to look like the LCD lettering on a digital alarm clock.

i'll wait for this with a lot of interest. the presenters are a good choice. i hope they don't go for stupid comedy routines like its predecessor or be too boring like GMTV or Ireland AM. thanks for the start date Charles

    From Ananova - http://www.ananova.com/entertainment/story/sm_575375.html

"Big Breakfast replacement to be 'sofa-free'

Channel 4's new breakfast show RI:SE is to be a sofa-free zone and have no opening or closing credits.

Producers say it will reflect the idea of viewers dipping in and out of the programme.

The new show, which is presented by Mark Durden-Smith and Kirsty Gallacher, launches on Monday April 29.

They will be joined by regular co-hosts Edith Bowman, Colin Murray, Chris Rogers, Liz Bonnin, Henry Bonsu.

The presenters will each have hand-held email devices called "blackberries" which allow viewers to contact them directly.

Breaking news headlines and weather reports will be flashed along the bottom of the screen.

Producers say the programme will also be the first with information about Big Brother 3.

RI:SE is a permanent replacement for the Big Breakfast, which ended last month after a fall in ratings."

Sounds pretty good, but "blackberries" ??????

    Yeah, it sounds fairly promising.

Looking forward to seeing it's debut tomorrow morning and hearing this forum's views on it.

Well ? What did you think ?

The six-pack of news is just a dumb, dumb, dumb idea !! What happens when there's only two or three really important nes stories (or one, in the context of September 11th). And what if there are seven really important news stories ?

It really is a case of style over substance when the number of news stories is dictated by a catchy tag-line and not what's actually happening in the world.

The presenters are also a little bit self consciously clever-clogged.

Aside from that, it's fairly pacy - but the adult double entendres in the "cartoon" are a bit much for that hour. In reference to Popstar winner - "Will isn't interested in the number one slot..."

Well I watched it this morning.
I will not be giving it a second look.
I thought it was dreadfull-a few people ranting on at a table while the news scrolls across the bottom of the screen.
It's little wonder Sky news are producing it, it won't be much competition for Sunrise:rolleyes:

Were we watching the same programme?

I watched the first 15 minutes, and the "6 pack" is only doing what a normal editor would do; the top 6 stories of the day, every editor has to have a limit to the amount of stories to a specified time slot. The only difference here is, they are telling us that there are six news stories in this bulletin.

One feature that I like is that the presenters get on very well together. (Colin getting the coffee, erm, that will have to stop!)

Its not bad... I'll give it another look for sure.

Well Liz is in the credits as a story writer for Fair City-thats why I asked this question at the top.
Surely there can't be two Liz bonnins

Ri:se is not exactly the best show being put on tv in the mornings at the moment. There are too many repeats , what is done in the first hour is redone in the second hour. and why can't any of the presenters stay in their seat, they are constantly coming back with cups of tea, surely they can do that off camera i am not bothered what the hell they are doing.

i am not a fan of the hand held email reciever things, they are constantly looking at them and seeing did any one email them. Felt like doing it yesterday to tell them what twats they were but decided against it. :D

The news format is lacking that certain something, whilst i enjoy looking at chris rogers there is just something missing and uncomfortable about the news section.

For a show being produced by sky you think they would have a better understanding of what people want. and how to produce and get the news across is certainly one thing they should be able to do.

Mark durden thing looks constantly uncomfortable in front of the camera and after the first morning where he could not find the correct camera to be on, he now seems to sit in a position that covers both cameras just in case.

Liz bonin is good on the show and gives it that edge of class for the entertainment section. that is class the edith just does not have.

will i watch it again, probably for another week if it doesn't pick up i won't watch it again.

I've been watching this again and it's growing on me:eek:
I notice as well that for a channel four programme(albeit produced by Sky), they give a full weather forecast for the Republic of Ireland.
I know BB used do it with symbols and temperatures etc and the BBC do it aswell with symbols(but rarely mention us by name).
the BBC temper their "symbols" reference to ROI on the chart, by doing the rest of Europe aswell.

How ever RI:SE have gone a step further by putting Cork up there with Sheffield and a few others with a five day forecast on screen.
I wonder what the people at CH4 that talk of fortuitous Reception make of that??
