I dunno what happened, but a rummage through Digiguide tells me that its not on for the next 10 days anyway. :(

    Strange ...

I even heard it mentioned on Today FM this morning, but digiguide haven't got it listed for tonight.

TV3 teletext had it listed for tonight and no show  i was really looking forward to seeing what they have done to this house. it is supposed to be unbelievable. experts from Hollywood were even called in to give it an eerie feeling

i sent TV3 an email and got this back
For contractual reasons the show was cancelled. We have no confirmation
    of a
    transmission date as yet.
    Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
    Regards
    TV3

that's strange. i thought it was TV3 who made the programme

    This is mad ...

    http://www.unison.ie/irish_independent/stories.php3?ca=9&si=735738&issue_id=7256

"AN EXPENSIVE TV3 gameshow, due to begin transmission last night, has been postponed for financial reasons.

'Haunted House', which features a group of contestants facing their worst fears in order to win money, is now nervously facing its own uncertain future.

Series producer Louis Maguire said the series - which he had lined up to sell in America and across Europe - had run out of money.

"We ran short of funds - it's as simple as that. Money was promised to me from a number of sources but it never came in."

A spokesperson for TV3 said: "There were some contractual issues and 'Haunted House' will not be rescheduled until they are ironed out." That would not be for at least six weeks, she said."

The money problem was played out on Live Line about two weeks ago when they had cast menber on air complaining about not getting paid (they were owed about €1500-2000 each), someone from the production company and I think TV3 came on line but I have to admit I did'nt give the feature too much attention as I was driving roads I had'nt been on in some years
    at the time!

I heard it cost something like €30 million to make. (I hope not)

But I dont get it if they keep on posponing it when do they expect to let the people out of the house with viewers calling to vote them out.

I also thought that 4 days was not very long for the TV show if they are spending alot of money on the project would they not be better off just spreading over 12 weeks or so.

It has to be the worst advertised show on the planet I didn't see any adds for contestants, That might because i dont watch TV3 that much but I usually see things about what they are showing.

Also did the cast of Tresure Island and Big Brother all get paid for doing those shows?

no money. that is very poor planning IMO. this programme cost a fortune to make and they wont show it because "There were some contractual issues and 'Haunted House' will not be rescheduled until they are ironed out." very poor TV3, very poor

Thats about half a years budget for the entire station! They'd have to sell it to every country on the planet to break even.

Just think about it this way Band Of Brothers cost $120,000,000 to make. E30 Million for a small Irish TV station is a lot. They must have made the set out of gold or something.

Liam Fay had a good article about the fiasco
regarding this haunted house program in last
    Sunday's Sunday times Irish edition.

its sounds a bit like this show that I saw in the US called Fear! They go to this different suupposedly haunted buildings and stuff around the US(i think they were mostly prisions and mental asylums) and they had to go into like the torture chamber or other places where bad things had happened and stand there in the dark or do something. One person had to go into the solitary confinement place for a bit. I wasn't really that great. This show also sounds a bit like Fear Factor, cuz they are suppose to come up againist there fears. I think fear factor is alright so maybe if they take the good bits out of both shows 'Haunted house' should be pretty good.

She was stuffed into a coffin in the house filled with live rats:eek:
I would do many things in a haunted house for a new jeep and €25,000 but not that!!!
Sound like an interesting programme:p  :p

Just watched a recording of last night's episode and I thought it was pretty dire in general, but the terrible acting of the house owners/servants etc is hilarious. They're just soo bad. The accents are appalling, and they're aren't in the least bit convincing.

    I can't wait to see tonight's farce.

what can i say about that other than dull, poorly put together and annoying. i have to admit though that i laughed really loud when the fella thought the woman was the devil. he must have set a record for scrambling over a table. i'll watch again tomorrow just to see who wins the thing

I had my hopes up for this, but TV3 have let us down again when it comes to home produced programming.

    They simply cant do it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,817 ✭✭✭Charles Slane

Where is the "owner" of the house supposed to be from ? His accent veers wildly from New York to Eastern Europe to Waterford. It's almost attractive in a strange crappy sort of way.

I have to say that I'm worried about any long-term psychological damage that may be done to these poor unfortunates, having been manhandled by badly made-up, hammy goons, while being screamed at by idiots who signed up to be in a show called "Haunted House" and then realised that they had a morbid fear of rats, spiders and snakes

I am, of course, talking about the poor animals here, who were never given a choice over whether or not to take part in this wretched show. l saw that there's a notification at the end of the programme saying that no animals have been harmed during the making of the programme, but my heart went out to that terrified screaming piglet (and I'm not referring to "Eileen, the drama student from Dublin").

Cant' wait to see tonight's instalment !!

Are maggots not considered 'animals' ??

Thousands of them would have been squished in the 'pit bed' ;)

It Kind of reminds me of WWF in that it has comedic value when all the participants are trying to act real serious. It was especially funny last night when the guy threw maggots at the collaborator who wasn't a collaborator but who was a contestant on blind date! Desperately over acted by the 2 "contestants"!!! :D

As a matter of interest, has anyone actually voted for any of the contestants ?

I can't bear to watch it after seeing that Bernard McHugh loony on it. (was on BlindDate too and was embarrasing)

I think Haunted House is crap name for it as the house isn't haunted, just people put in feared situations. They could've called it Fear Factory (in no way related to fearfactor on Sky1!):D

How can you vote out people from this show

    1. you dont get to know any of the people, Its only on for two weeks.

    2. TV3 put this show off the air 3 months in a row have these poor people been put through this for 3 months?????????

One wonders if TV3 are just trying to make money out of phone calls, like with The Weakest Link I mean why ring that line up when you have the chance of a million with Millionaire, Fine I know RTE would never let anyone win more then €250,000 but it is far more then less than €10,000 on the Weakest link.

Actually I never saw anything about the Haunted House any where how did you apply.

Have to say watching that show, there were two parts where I burst out laughing.
First was when the "tormentors" were trying to convert one of the lads and there was a badly made up "oger" or whatever he was meant to be walking around in circles hitting his head up to the walls chanting over and over again..." don't be so mean...":D

It sort of captivated how terrible the show was...

The second bit was the poor girl who had the fear of heights and whose bed suddenly cascaded down hill from her room crashing through two walls and landing in a living room where a say_ons was going on...

actually the thing to do regarding this programme was to answer the add in the paper looking for tormentors and not the one for the contestants:D

200,000 + viewers for the show could this mean that TV3 might get the message that Investing in Irish TV is a good thing espically when this load of trip gets 200,000+ viewers maybe Irish viewers want IrishTV. (However Haunted house is a bit off putting) Maybe they will have better look with their next prime time TV production maybe a Haunted House 2 in 3 years time or 3 years and 2 months depending on how long they put it off for.
