    Hi there,

My name is Malin-Sarah, I am researching for Dublin and its surroundings (max 2hours driving distance). Purpose : preparing an Irish episode of the popular culinary travel show Gentse Waterzooi , produced for Belgian National television.
I am actually looking for typical Irish Food things, contacts with people much into Irish food, suited locations etc ...

If you feel like turning the following ideas into concrete persons ans locations for me to visit during my location hunting trip , I would certainly appreciate it!

    - the Irish spud (farm, king of the spuds, ...)
    - restaurant tip (typical Irish, cozy , authentic , no tourist traps please)
    - Dublin Bay Prawns (where to catch them, where to eat them and how to prepare them
    - Dublin lawyer and Dublin Coddle : who prepares this and how, where to find it?
    - Hurling ; where to go to - Hurling fans ...
    - oysters (Galway is too far, is there anything more near to involve oysters in the program
    - original food markets
    - lamb : where to buy it, farms, ...
    - Whiskey : pub specialised in Whiskey, whiskey connoisseur, distillery where you can see the actual process
    - Guinness or variations on Guinness > breweries, pubs
    - pubs and original pub crawls > looking for interesting characters
    - use of seaweed in the kitchen : where to look for in and around Dublin
-trout fishing : where ? other kind of fish
    - home cooking : nice addresses, intersting people
    - best place to have your Irish breakfast
    - country houses and farms as locations to cook
    - where in Dublin can we find the Fish&chips in newspaper?

I am looking forward to your reactions

by the way , I am leaving on the 24th for Dublin!

    kind regards,
    Malin-S

    Points of interest:

    Jameson distillery place
    Guinness brewery
That place on O'Connell street that does fish and chips (forgotten the name!)

Maybe visit some newer places aswell around Temple Bar. Not typically Irish in the traditional way, but much more interesting :)
Keoghs (Can't remember the location, I think it's near Temple Bar/parliament street).

The Irish Tourist board should be of some help. I've seen shows along these lines before so it's a good place to start for interesting locations.

The only typical Irish food I can think of is stew.

    Sarah,

There are some really GOOD restaurants in and around Dublin.
Partick Guilbaud is in Fine Cuisine and I am sure that they can help you out
McGrattins (donot know if it is the proper spelling) is also good but in my mind to pricy for what you get
there are well known really good food restaurants in Co Wexford which is not far from Dublin

Have you been in contact with the Irish tourist board in Belgium, also the Chambre of Commerce in Dublin could help you out, any Belgium companies that are based in Ireland could help also as they surly invite prople from time to time also the irish development authority in belgium could help you out. The Belgium Embassy in Dublin could also help you.
GOod Luck and maybe you could give us an update on your findings.
