NTL interactive and cable modems?

    I was just browsing the nlt site (gods knows why...)
    and spotted on page 5 of the digital tv section the promise
    of interactive and cable modems, is this new or did I just
    miss this the last time I looked? (doh! in advance if the latter :D)

    oops "double doh" I think, I just spotted the other thread on this topic.

    AFAIK, those NTL stb's contain fully working cablemodems, however they are wasted on the bulk of NTL's network. I would not hold my breath waiting for them to upgrade to modern 2 way standards.

    They are hoping to launch a product later this year that will enable it to offer both cable internet and interactive TV over its 1 way network. It is experimental technology using VOIP that is currently been trialed and they have admited that it may not work.
