Pace digibox with Mitsubishi TV (PROBLEMS)

I have a Mitsubishi TV, model C29A6LST and my Pace digibox is connected to it.

Originally, when the digibox was installed, I used it with a Philips TV and it worked fine until I moved the box to a new room.

Then I connected it to the Mitsubishi TV. I have tried various codes for this tv and some work and some don't but my big problem is that I have to power off the digibox to view the terrestrial channels.

The Sky remote will control volume and select channels on the tv but when I press tv and then a channel number, I get the channel info displayed at the top

EG: RTE1 and underneath it says AV1 with a scart plug picture.

BUT, it STILL has the sky program on the screen???
No matter what button I press, it will display the correct title, NET2, TV3, TG4 etc, but will not clear the sky picture from the screen!!

Because of this, the only way I can view terrestrial channels is to switch off the box (put it in standby mode).

Anybody out there able to help me please?

chernobyl refrains from inserting an unfunny but bitterly sarcastic comment.

    This is TV dependent man.
    :)

Thanks for refraining from adding any comments!!! Ha ha ha. It looks a bit ridiculous reading it now alright.

How do you mean it is tv dependent?

Just that some will work and some won't??

    @ home:

    Sanyo: it works fine.
    Sony: it works too.
    LG: not a chance

I dont know for sure that its TV dependent, i am only assuming but to view a Terrrestrial channel on the LG the box has to go into standby.

OK. Now I don't feel so bad

Glad to know other TV's have problems with it too. Just thought maybe there was some setting or other which could be changed to sort it out.

    Thanks for your prompt replies!

i had the exact same problem with a Panasonic tv. after you press the tv button on the remote press the help button and see if it takes you to the terrestrial channels

Hi, Mitsubishi AFAIK is unique in this regard as it does not go back to normal tv mode when pin 8 control on the scart is released. You can cure this by going into the picture set up menu on the digibox and turning scart control off. Downside of this is you must now use the tv remote to select AV to watch sky and you may not get RGB quality picture. Try re programming the sky remote first, instructions are on page 26 of the pace manual.

    Hope this helps

why not try changing the output channel of the digibox to something else. this is available in the installers ("secret") menu

Can't try any of these until later as I am in work now. What do you mean the output channel in the "secret" menu?

Changing the output channel on the Digibox will not have any affect on this problem. All that it does is change the RF frequency that the satellit channel is carried on. The problem that wolfman is having is related to Scart leads.

I had the same problem with a Salora TV. As Tony stated the only way to sort this is to turn off the scart control. You will loose RGB but the terrestrials will work without turning off the digibox.

Of course in under two weeks you might not want to watch through the aerial anymore. :)

Very good answer. Kinda makes me wonder now why I started this whole question???

But I have to be honest, as a newbie, I'm really impressed with the help that ALL YOU GUYS offer!!

with ref. to what tony said. the help button on the sky remote operates as the av button on some tvs. you could try this

Just to let you all know. I tried any suggestions and still absolutely nothing. . . . . .

BUT.... I fitted my new tv link to my old Philips tv in the next room this evening and all is working fine.

OK. It's an RF feed and doesn't have the same quality, but at least I can watch it in both rooms now.

Well, turning off Scart Control shoiuld have worked as I have encountered the problem before with Mitsi's and some older Sharps and JVC's which was solved by turning the control off and usually the Help button acted as AV button.
