I am doing a computers course in an IT.

Is it possible to claim VAT back after purchasing a laptop/pc?

and how would one go about doing it?

You can only claim the VAT back if you are running a VAT-registered business (7 returns per year) or have a specific disability (e.g. deaf people can do it with teletext TVs, those with movement disabilities can do it with their transport)

that is possibly it as the person that told me of vat back was blind and got a laptop.

but still he said that anyone could do it.

anyway I am going to give the revenue commissionaires offive a buzz, but I just haven't gotten around to it!

IMO, we should have vat off tho. I mean a computing student shouldn't have to pay full whack for something that will aid him/her in studies.
