Just Mum. Or Mother when I'm annoyed with her. I always introduce to my friends by her first name though - she hates formalities.

em, sort of like 'maw' I guess, unless she's doing something like telling my da 'take that bottle away from her she's had enough' in which case I address her as 'mother'.

Mom, or mother if I'm talking about her(eg. "my mother said your ghey...").

    Usually mam.

An argument usually leads to me calling her "woman"

"Jesus, woman have you been listening to a word i said!!"

I really hate the phrase "ol lade"

    mum, or her full name

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,379 ✭✭✭Mills

Mam to her face (Why is it Mam/Mummy? I don't think I've called her Mammy or Mummy for a good 8 years) if I'm talking about her it's usually "my mother".

Oi!!! Nutter springs to mind but because I'm nice I call her "Ma" :)

ususally mum and sometimes by her first name but when she pisses me off (which only mothers can) she is referred to as

    "Mother dearest"

Which really gets the desired response

    Good topic

i call her by her first name. when i was about 7 or 8 i started to call her by her forename to annoy her and it has stuck. in an arguement it would be mother or woman but arguements very rarely happen :)

    To me it's Mom

To you it's Mrs. Fleming ;)

I can't believe that more people call their mother "Bitch/Ho/Skank" than "Me Ould One" or "Mother".

    ... something fundamentally wrong there!

    Hmmm this made me think....

Before I went to live in America as a young fella, I called her Mam,
When we lived in America I called her Mom,
and Now i call generally call her Mum or Mother.

I know alot of ppl who call their parents by their first names- I've never been comfortable with that TBH

And if I want to annoy my parents I call them Mammy & Daddy or Parental Unit 1 & 2 :cheeky:

To be the proper and well educated young woman I should be, it should be 'Mère' (Mother).
I tend not to call her, it saves me trouble!

Here's a weird one - up until I was about six or seven, I called my Mother by her first name, usually repeated in threes and fours... then for some reason I just started calling her Mum instead and that's how it's stayed.
