eh run out and buy that pc now. Its £800 sterling with a 17" monitor. Fantastic spec, ok so its not a 1.4 ghz athlon, but theres high quality components in there.

Yah, didn't state that in the paper advert though.

    Tsk.

look at the register link posted for the spec. I still reckon its good value for money. Ask dell or gateway for that EXACT spec and see how much they are.

so your talking about ~350 then for the processor, mboard, ram and case.

not bad at all, but imo a monitor would make it a bloody damn good deal, as it stands though theyre not going wrong with "irelands best value pc"

Says on their site 'available April 10th' under special offers. I think from the register site that it sounds like there was only a few available at that price per store, so it woulda been a queue over night jobby, no? Wouldn't mind that 17" monitor myself.

That's about the best deal I've ever seen without building the damn thing yourself. I'm betting their planning on making a mint on support though. Bunch of clueless ****wits buy a PC at the supermarket then spend £50 quid on a premium rate support line to find out how to use the foot-pedal.

    Apparently only 6 per store?

    lph

    *HIDDEN COSTS ALERT*

I could be reading this wrong, but doesn't it looked tied to an ISP subscription deal?

holy sheet that is a scam, or at least a poorly worded advertisement.

    1. the whole thing looks copied and pasted from somewhere else; ie that somewhere else has all the FINE PRINT.

    2. definitely tied to an internet subscription thingy..."*Your 50 Free Hours Must Be Used Within Your First Month Online,
And A Membership Fee Applies After Your First Month Online."

    3. no where does it say punts lads, and the site is english, they are prolly calling the north...ireland in this case...maybe?...to vague

    4. ah whatdoicare

Picked up the 2nd last one at 1030am this morning and the last one was bought as i was leaving the store(Parnell st, Dublin). They were just flying out the door! There's no way you're gonna get value for money like this even by building yourself. £899? fupin bargain if you ask me... Had a chat with the manager to see when they might get stock in again. Aparently this was something of a one-off and he didn't expect a repeat performance any time soon.

I'm *well* chuffed i got one. Been playing Deus Ex this evening and got no complaints. Will prob pick up B&W this weekend too.

The whole internet thing is just an AOL offer. Usual crap from them but nothing to do with the pc. Use it or bin it (guess where mine is going? :-) )

Some extra ram and an ISDN card and i'm sorted.... cool....

Glad to see that I was wrong. That does sound like a great deal then. Just taking the cost of some of the major components
together hits that value pretty quickly.

No cheques or credit cards tho. Not much good for your average technophilic debt-monkey wink.gif [i.e: I'll have to suffer my 600MHz Athlon for a while (*cough*) longer]
