Right lads, I've got myself an interview for the IMP course on Thursday. Anybody got any advice for me? Like what theyre looking for in candidates etc?

Oh and theres no mention of needing to bring anything, (portfolio etc) in the book or on the website. So I don't need to right? Don't wanna be turning up empty handed if I do...

    Cheers...

i did LUDO 2 years ago which is IMP's sister course , both are multimedia courses only diff if is LUDO is aimed @ games industry, there also right beside each other.

Alot of the same teachers teach in both, so i can imagine its fairly similer criteria they'd be looking for.
From what i've been told I got into ludo baced on entuasim, and mainly attitude. Personally i made a small platformer game for my interview, but i was actully the only person on the course that had brought anything to the intreview, so its not baced on that.

They want to see some1 they think is intrested enuff to handle the work load on the course, and some1 that can fit into a team fairly snugly. Anything u have done / are doing that are relevent to these should be mentioned.

Thanks Havok, remember what kinda questions they asked? Was it just "why would you like to come here" etc?

Jesus, was 3 years ago (and i can bearly remember what i did yesterday:))
All i really recall is being 15 mins late and doing a fairly **** interview, obviously they'd seen somthing in me which i did'nd see @ the time.
From what i remember they spent most there time trying to gauge personality, along with suitibility. I know this is'nt the percise answer ya wanted Pie, but its the best i can do:)

Be prepared for toughie questions, like why would you be suitable for the course , where do u see yourself in 5 years etc

Come to think of it make sure u know excatly where it is, i spent 20 mins (and ended up late) walking up and down dame st, asking ppl.
Provided thay hav'nd moved the interviews to the main or art block, its through 2 wooden double doors (theres a "drunker and fanning partners" sign sticking out on to the street. Go up the stars (dont touch that peice of **** lift) its the 2nd floor (ccet)

Also something of intrest, make sure u know a good amount on the course, its the biggest complaint i heard when they where interviewing during my year.
Sound like u know where ur going.

Hehe it's in the Art Block apparently, and I'm going up with a friend today (he's going for a different interview) so I'll make sure I know where it is.

    Thanks again, great help :)

    pie,

you should have no problem getin into the IMP course, my friemd did that last year, he is now on there HND Multimedia Course, also located on dame st.

you have prob met Viv by now, girl over IMP (shaved head, red hair..) all she is looking for is someone who has a flair for design,no some Pshop,Max,Director i would imagin she would aim u for the diploma course as there work is more advanced, and u focus on what u want to do, IMP is actualy a piece of piss comparede to it.

Havok's already mentioned it, but this point cannot be stressed enough, and is vital to your success and well-being during the course:
