Modem Cable Problems

    I bought meself an cable for plugging my modem into the wall jack, it was around a tenner! designed to give stronger conn from modem to wall yadayada(fool and his money!) i found though when i plugged it in my phoneline went dead! even when ya plugges in the phone at another socket i have the line was all dead! anyone know what might be causing this?

    What are we going to do tonight Brain?

    Either the cable you bought is for an english modem, or your existing cable is not a straight through one, i.e. the wires are not in the same positions on both ends of the cable.

    Hmmm well i bought it in compuwhore!and it said on the actual packaging thats it suitable for regular analogue connection or digital its a belkin cable so i might chec there site see if i can ***** at them
