What can I say, except its very sad to hear of Ben's death. Its awful to hear of anyone dying in a tragic accident, but when someone dies so young(24) with their career ahead of them its even worse.

I actaully met Ben on 2 occasions in 1997. I have a picture taken at the Oval, by a friend, of him signing this old bat I had, that I was using for signatures on our trip. By chance, he had his family with him when we approached him and my thoughts go out to them- especially his brother Adam, who made his test match debut the same day as Ben in 1997.

At this early stage, it appears speed was a factor in causing his car to leave the road. If this can be a lesson to all drivers it is...Slow Down Boys.

Yes, it is extremely sad news. Its nice to know you met him, I've only admired his skills from afar.

His family must be devastated, I heard last night on Test Match Special that Adam was in the car behind....

I also feel sorry for his Surrey team-mates who were playing last night, and weren't told before they played, as the news was just breaking. Graham Thorpe, Mark Butcher and Mark Ramprakash must be in deep shock. The whole England dressing room must be, he was only on tour with them 4 weeks ago...
