    Hi all again

Deciding that my call to RTE had brought some success I rang TV3 and got through to their engineering department.Talked to some (spanish?) bloke who told me that TV3 were planning to launch at the end of April he could not give a date but said it would be at the same time as RTE.He also said that there were people there at the moment installing equipment. 2 scoops in one day!!!

wonderful. i spent a mini fortune upgrading aerials a while back for good quality Irish television reception and we will have them in about a month on Sky. maybe the picture will be pixellated and i will have use for the aerials again. there is always the VCR i suppose. overall, great news that TV3 will be there on the 23rd too

Although, I must add that there are serious doubts about whether RTE will be ready in time for that date. Apparently there have been some legal complications, among others. And if RTE can't broadcast by that date, they'll hold TV3 up too.

This will be very interesting if TV3 plan to launch in NI? UTV will not be pleased and there will be a big battle over programme rights.

These broadcasters don't want half to make it hard for us, do they?

Especially if we want to legally watch them....;)

Is TV3 shown on cable in NI ? And if so, how many of it's programmes are blocked ?

It all looks more official with an e-mail. I got this this morning -

"Many thanks for your email. We have yet to confirm a launch date but it will be within the next 2 months.
    Regards
    TV3"

TV3 are running an item in today's (March 27th) News at 5.30 (and most likely 6.30) entitled Digital, and will (presumably) be about them launching on Sky Digital.

And on a separate, but related, issue, ITV Digital is to be put into administration by co-owners Granada and Carlton Communications. As we know, Granada are a major shareholder in TV3.

It might not be about that at all. It could be about the impending impolsion that is ITV Digital, it is a massive news story. It would be very hard for RTÉ or TV3 to ignore on either of their news programmes.

And the Digital Terrestrial board has the latest on todays breaking news of ITV Digital.

Yep, but the story slug is "Sky" which suggests otherwise. However, I agree, I believe it would be difficult for TV3 to ignore the current goings on with ITV Digital, so they may incorporate that story into the item.

They didn't and you were right. Well done sir.

As we had suspected all along all Irish terrestrial channels from the 23rd April.
