Lending itself slightly to tv-a-holics recent thread, this time however, who has been the best player since the premiership began?? I'd say probably Roy Keane or Cantona as much as I hate to say it... (Liverpool fan):D

    Iain Dowie.

Anyone ever read a fanzine called "The Onion Bag" with it's superb "Soccer Sex Gods" section?

Eric Cantona, he had everything, skill, eye for goal, commitment and you could always expect the unexpected. And to think Leeds gave him away for 1.2 million. The current Man United team that played with Cantona, Beckham, Keane, Butt, Scholes, Giggs, 2Nevilles, Irwin, Johnson, Solksjaer would all say that Eric was the Man.

I'd have to say Alan Shearer.

Roy Keane would be a close second choice.

As for the best manager, for entertainment value, I'd choose Keegan.

Yes Eric Cantona is the Best player in the history of the premiership. 26 years Man United waited to win it and as soon as Cantona signed from Leeds he changed everything. United win the premiership which in turn gives the premiership a much bigger profile. ABU's dont like it but hey Manchester United are the biggest club in England, probably the world and Cantona helped make it happen.

I'd have to say Keano. Not only is he a Corkman but his drive and ambition are unparalled. He's not a bad player either. :)

I'm half hoping if Veron stays he can claim the title. Watching him play is (almost) like sex.

I think the best player in the Premiership ever was Peter Schmeichel!!! Yes every1 forgets about the goalkeepers but if ir wasn't 4 him United wouldn't of been so successful in the premiership!!!

Oh yeah 4 all ye saying Cantona, he never performed in Europe against hte BIG European clubs!!! So while he was a good player he wasn't the greatest!!!

Roy Keane - by a mile

Why limit yourself to the history of the Premiership? Obviously a United fan...
I think you're falling prey to Sky's version of the world - all their stats are limited to the Premiership. You'd think they invented football in 1992!!

Its nearly more than I can stand, but Man Utds Great Dane
was a mightly player and is still pretty good . He gets my vote.

    Mike.

Nore if you had bothered your lazy **** to actually read my post you would realise I was a Liverpool fan. The reason I chose the premiership was to narrow down the options and not put up another "best player ever" thread. Muppet...
    :p

Whoah, beef, don't call me a
    lazy **** Muppet...
    , you b!tch!
You limited things to the Premiership because you watch too much Sky TV. Why didn't you limit to the 90s? Or the last 10 years? Because it's drummed into your head "Premiership... live on Sky... blah blah blah..."
    And I'm a Liverpool fan too but you're still a b!tch, b!tch!

Roy Keane or Eric Cantona definately. No explanation needed. :)

Nore if you didn't like the look of the thread then you should have steered clear. No need to criticise needlessly. Right, enough of the bitching! I've decided Roy Keane was the best. Best overall game...
    :)

Yeah, Keane has been at the top for the duration of the period under consideration...
But Cantona had something special. The end of the 95/96 season when United were overhauling Newcastle was uncanny - they won so many matches 1-0 (including at Newcastle, and then the Cup Final against Liverpool) and Cantona always seemed to get the goal!
