Hmmm 1.33Ghz chips aren't even listed yet. Not meant for a release till end of April I thought, actually wait it says April 1st on the site.. OEMs obviously a few weeks earlier.

    and a dual 1Ghz PIII-Xeon system?
pretty please and possibly one with a cache big enough to fit the quake3 binary would be sweet, yes AMD you can just bend over there thank you very much smile.gif

Talk to Gerry on these boards (Though he'll probably be along....) or go to Overclockers.co.uk.

And definitely go with the Athlon unless you know the app(s) you'll be using are specifically optimised for the P4 (not likely) - otherwise a lower clock speed Athlon will kick it's ass.

My recommendation would be an overclocked 1.2-1.3 Athlon, 512Mb of Ram, 2x45Gb IB deskstar Hard Drives on an Abit KT7A Raid mobo (Set them up in a RAID-0 array). You need the ram and fast HDD array for heavy duty graphics work, and both are relatively cheap right now.
Video card - any of the major brands have 300-350Mhz RAMDACS now so you're covered for 2d, though you might want one with 2 vga outs for multiple monitors.
Monitor - Totally recommend the Iiyama Visionmaster Pro 510, 22" prefectly flat screen, resolutions up to 2048x1536 are crystal clear (And it's much cheaper than most of it's competition in the performance range). 'Tis a beauty to behold... smile.gif

Athlon is better for graphics right now. It whips the p4 in photoshop and in 3d studio max. The only fast intel solution for graphics is a dual p3 1ghz. The p4 is overpriced at the moment. Better off spending the money on a fast athlon, 1.2-1.33 ghz. These can be clocked up to 1.4-1.5 ghz. Like creed said, memory and hdd space are cheap at the moment, so stock up on them. The one thing I will say is, the athlon system will be more problematic than the p4, unless I build it for ya smile.gif.<cheap plug> I work in itdirect, www.itdirect.ie , so I'd build it for ya personally, and throw every test under the sun at it. </cheap plug>
