When Pantera's "Mouth For War" was at number one in the US charts 10 years ago. The first ever metal single EVER to do so might I add in. :D

If youre on about albums... Far Beyond Driven by Pantera in 94 is a good candidate. :)

1983 Duran Duran Is There Something I Should Know

there's actually some good stuff there over the years
but , ye, there's certainly not as many classics in the recent years.

and iron maiden actually got a no 1 (1991)

Why care about the charts or what's number 1? Leave it to the interests of those who buy music that are represented in it.

yes, it's bitchier than the female jax in Zanzibar.

Good number 1s in no particular order:

The Specials: Too much Too yOUNG (1980)
    The Jam: Going Underground (1980)
    John Lennon: Imagine (1981)
Musical Youth: Pass the Dutchie (1982)
    Adamski: Killer (1990?)
The KLF: 3am eternal (or was the tammy wynette song no.1?)
Manchester United: Come on You Reds (1994)
    Oasis: Some Might Say (1995)
    The Prodigy: Firestarter (1996)
The Chemical Brothers: Setting Sun (1996)
    Blur: Beetlebum (1997)
The Manic Street Preachers: If You Tolerate this... (1998)

Some of these were number 1 in the UK only, but they were number 1s nonetheless.

Slightly OT, but has every official U2 single ever released in the Republic been Number 1, because why classics like "Pride" and "With or Without You" weren't number 1 hits in the UK escapes me!!!!
