What a night. The mighty Blues are back in the promotion fight.

    Dublin City 1-2 Waterford United

    What a night!

Down to to 10 men after only 5 minutes. Kelvin Flanagan saw red, for an off the ball incident.

The faithful thought that we could really get the run-around here.

    "C'mon Blues"

But wait two minutes later, a free on the left handside of the half-way line. Frost takes it quickly, and pings it crossfield to the on-running Hunt. The Dublin City defence is caught flat footed. He chests the ball into his path, one touch, pulls the trigger, BANG!

"Yes, go on you F****** good thing. Some goal, boy"

    "How much is left?"

    "about 80 minutes"

    "****! C'mon Blues"

The rest of the first second half turned into somewaht of an exhibition.

"We cant get the ball!". They chased, harried, tackled and at times i flet their pain. Hey, they were only 5 yards away. Ten men against eleven on a heavy pitch? Time to roll the sleeves up. On 30 minutes the inevitable happened, with the defence absolutely shattered, a low cross which should have been cleared was dispatched by Dublin City's O' Connor.

We limped, coughed and spluttered to Half time

    1-1

Time for a cuppa and a chat.

    "Not looking good is it"

    "You never know"

    "Suppose, you never know"

    "C'maon the Blues"

The second half we seam to get on top. The work ethic continued but this time it seamed to have more reason to it, more purpose. On ten minutes "Oh s***, Hunty is crocked"

"Hunty for IRELAND, Hunty for IRELAND, Hunty for IRELAND"

After soaking up the pressure (and a few hairy moments) we attack on the break.

"Yes, good ball. Pass it. Yes. "

We get a couple of headers at corners. The big men up from the back. I dont believe it two balls cleared off the line and then another.

    "Hand ball, ref!"

It wasnt really but hey, you know

The pitch has been really cut up now. Dublin surge forward time and time again. We defend like trojans. Hit them on the break. The play rages from box to boxAnother sitter missed." Thats it, no chance"

"How did he miss that, he hit it with his shagging knee"

    "C'mon Waterford"

"Only a couple of minutes left"

We have to win to stay in the promotion battle. Injury time. The blues faithful urge Waterford on

"Attack , Attack, Attack, Attack, ..............."

Corner. We hear that its 4 minutes over the ninety.

The corner is whipped in. "Good ball"

The keeper cant cope. Ball drops, Dempsey twists, shoots....

And then (I s*** you not), for a split second it all went quiet.

    GOAL, GOAL

    YYEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

    Hysteria, Jubilation.

Dublin centre off, but its all over.

What a game, what a night, what a team

Athlone Town at home on Saturday Night at the RSC

    The dream goes on..............................................

I'd like to see you guys or Harps come up so I can get some more good away trips next year. Is Whitehall as bad as I've heard?

Whitehall is a tiny ground, with one very small stand, but the atmosphere was great last night. You would be only a couple of yards from the action.

I must say though although, the dubs dont get much of a following, they do have a bar open under the stand and free tea for everyone at half time.

    Nice people
