I'm not an Arsenal fan ... but I am a fan of good football, and the pure skill that Bergkamp showed to control the ball and slot it past the keeper in Arsenals 2-0 victory over Newcastle the other day was, in my view, unmatched this season.

Sod yer 40 yard out shots to the net,... this was pure class.

    Anyone agree?

I thought Matt Janses goal was a cracker last week too.

Anyon else see that one. I thought it compared to Bergkamps goal.

The best goal ever had to be Zola's solo effort against United a couple of seasons ago. Words fail me to describe it.

what about roy keane's goal against juventus in'99? simple maybe but great all the same!!!

Ye are all wrong, surely the winner is frank Sinclair last weekend.

He must have been 40 yards out. The keeper had absolutely no chance

    Brilliant finish

I saw it live in some bar here in the canaries.... the 10 foot jump i made beat my previous high jump record (set last week after Dinnys chip into the leverkusen net).
For sure its goal of the season so far, but hey the season isnt over yet and henry will miss a few games yet ;)

PS anyone remember his hat trick against leicster which got him 1 2 and 3rd place in goal of the month that month?

The topic is goal of the season (so far). The season being 2001/2002.
I'm gonna go with Bergkamp coz I cant really remember many other goals.
Duff's finish tonight though was quite a good one.

sedorf scored a cracker for inter this weekend and shevchenko scored an unbelivable goal against juventus earlier this season still the greatest goal of all time was eddie gormley's goal against sligo a few years ago for pats he scored from inside his own half much better that that waster beckham's for merchendice united

Oh - eh - just to clarify...

When I said 'the season', I meant this season - the one we're currently in. I know that can be confusing, - but there ya go.

    - oh, and I'm talking specifically about the FA Premiership in England.

Bergkamp still takes it, as far as I'm concerned.

... emm... and Van Nistelrooy is way over-rated.

Why on and irish site are you limiting it to england why not the saudi or mexican league it because of people like you that the Eircom league doesnt get the respect it desrves. Any of the goals for the brilliant mbabazi charles livingstone deserves a mention watch him in ireland while you can

because I'm interested in the English league and not the saudi and mexican leagues... but who cares? Go ahead and post what you like.

it because of people like you that the Eircom league doesnt get the respect it desrves.

    Bollocks.

Not being interested in something doesn't mean I don't have respect for it. Anyway- no need to get in a huff... if you want to discuss the Eircom league, go right ahead. My question concerned the Premiership.

If I asked who people thought was the best player in the Scottish Premiership, would you bitch about not being able to nominate someone like Thierry Henry?

I liked Solskjaers goal there a couple of weeks ago against Bolton. It was the first of the three goals. Great team move. :)

flattered you think so as a menatal arsenal supporter. the technique and genius bergkamp brings to a game is at times breathtaking. I maybe think Zolas goal vs norwich had that certain amount of zest and cheekiness that we footie fans love and would be up there with my vote as bergys goal vs Lever-brothers at highbury. Every one of the travelling suppoters though despite seeing Bayer being mauled could not ask for their money back.Ive seen good un's this season but still undecided dude but the ones mentioned between us both lie in my top-5 at least along with Robbie "the original fox-in-the-box" Fowler's against Boro for Leeds last month. If you want to see some of his goals of similar quality try get your hands on "Fowlers Hot Hundered",previewing his first century of goals in pro-football and not to forget to mention Liverpool FC.:)

Ruud Van Nistelrooy third goal againt Spurs, where he dragged the ball back, put two defenders on their arses, fainted to shoot, O'Sullivan shat himself, Van Nistelrooy took another touch and then cooley as you like smacked the ball into the back of the net. He just seemed to have all the time in the world and for a goal to complete his hat-trick was, well Goal of the Season, so far.
    It gave my my sig....

Not in my book and probably 99% of football supporters who know about football. :)
