    Poofs sing the best lovesongs.
(Actually Eunuchs do, but not so many of them now that the church is not allowed to chop their beanbags off for just that purpose)

So it has to be men.

I voted men, simply because of Aaron Stainthorp.

A vocalist more capable of crooning out such a mournful cry of misery there is not.
He writes some of the most tragic love songs I've heard.

Download: "My Dying Bride - For My Fallen Angel" to see what I'm on about.

    Men write love songs.

Women write hate songs about Men who have hurt them. Fact :)

I think all rounder Women have better singing voices. I mean, ever since I wanted to start a band I wanted a female singer for a blues/metal band. And I dont mean Growling bitches like Kittie, I mean like Janis Joplin, Except less ugly :).

But, for Love songs/ballads whatever you want to call 'em, all the good songs seem to be sang by males. ie.

Sweet Child O Mine - Axl Rose
Lemon Song - Robert Plant :D
and those already mentioned Sinatra etc.

Does "Nothing Else Matters" count as a love song? The lyrics don't really seem to be aimed or inspired by a relationship or anything...I just think its a slow metallica song.

I mean the lyrics would fit in to the "One" riff if you wanted it to

    DOCTORS
    INPRIS--ONING ME!!!
    NOTHING
    ELSE----MATTERS!!!!!:):):)

Men mostly : Fred Astaire, Sinatra, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, THE CURE, Thin Lizzy.......

But some women(especially those with huskie voices) :
-"Massive Attack - Protection" and most Massive Attack
    -"Portishead - Glory box"
    -"Bjork"!!!!!
    -The Pixies

This is how it works. Men are romantic. Women are susepible to that.(mostly but not wholely)

Don't forget Shirley Manson! I think she has a great voice. eg. "You Look So Fine" from Version 2.0

No it's got to be men. Think of all the r'n'b crap, most of that is love songs and it's nearly all men that sing it, eg Dru Hill, D'Angelo, R. Kelly and so on

Eh anyone else think its think this is a bit of a pointless pole. I don't really think the quality of a love song is effected by the sex of the singer, many love songs have even been written by one sex then covered by a member of the opposite sex anyway! I think the quality of the singer and the song rather than their sex is what makes it good. anyone agree?
