Sure I might as well make a new thread, give this board more new topics :p.

I'm trying to see what insurance costs will be for me when I get my bike (see other thread). The only company I've found out so far that will do it is Hibernian (Norwich Union). Their crappy online quote yokie couldn't process me, and I'm in work so I can't ring them. So if people would like to post up their details :p or if you know of any companies that do insurance, or whatever. You know what to do :)

Imagine I'm 19, prov. A lic (But full B lic., and 16 months road experience), living in Co. Dublin, Suzuki Marauder '00 125cc, any rough ideas?? :)

This site has links to a lot of car insurance companies in Ireland.

Cheers Neil, but believe it or not the only one of the companies mentioned who does bike insurance is Hibernian. This damn country!!

I did not even know tha Hibernian did bike insurance, the Norwich Union is all there is now as far as I know (since Carroll and Nash went bust)

I drive a 125cc - but being over 30 and a girl I pay 369 quid a year in Dublin - at your age - and it only a guess, I'd bet it's around 800/1000 - you being a young lad they tend to charge you the most...
sorry, not much help I know :)

Norwich Union => Hibernian just for all those who didn't know ;). I rang up a crowd call Aeon Insurance, who my bro is with, and they do a deal through bike dealers whereby they give you insurance only if you buy from one of the dealers. It includes pretty much every dealer in Dublin though, so you're not exactly restricted for choice. So I went down to Lucan Motorcycles today, who offered me a brand new Suzuki Marauder 125 + helmet, gloves, etc for €4100, with insurance from Aeon at €2353 (£1800), which is exactly what I expected for insurance. It sounds damn good, I''ll probably go for it....anyone got any opinions on this? :)

I assume that you are in Dublin???
If you have anyone with an address outside Dublin then register the bike there and insure it in the address outside Dublin.Roughly a 30% saving.
On a 125 for me (I live in Celbridge)its about 500 euro wit a provisional licence and no experience. For a m8 of mine its almost 1000 euro.
    Hope this helps

I just thought I'd add that Insurance in this country is a load of my left one.

I'm paying close on €2,000 for my CBR250RR, which is a damn fine bike and everything but would be much more enjoyable without such damn high insurance premiums.

    Baxtards the lot of them.

As far as getting it registered and insured outside your normal county of residence, it's not the smart thing to do. You want to be as honest as possible when getting your insurance or you could pay for it dearly at a later stage.

As far as who you get insured with, Hibernian done through Aon Insurance are your best bet for decent prices. Carole Nash the last time I checked weren't accepting any new insurance applications but were still quoting over 23s' with full licences.

I got my insurance through Aon, and they're pretty damn good in my opinion. You aren't going to get much cheaper unless you start going through brokers to UK companies, which isn't really the best thing to do. Go for it.

good god things have really changed...

£1800 for insurance on a maurauder, that's insane, they are practically the cheapest bikes to insure with the exception of scooters and maybe some ts100's if they are in group 1, not too sure, i know 125 marauders are insurance group 2 and most 125 sports bikes like the rg125 and nsr125 etc... are in group 3.

fair enough i don't live in dublin but when i first got my marauder i was 19 on a provisional A1 license and my insurance was £650ish
as it stands now, i'm insured on a 650 yamaha dragstar which is group 6 or 7, i'm 20 with provisional A license and it was £1400

the only thing i will say is remember your insurance is something that your gonna have to pay again next year if you keep it, and keep in mind your gonna have to fork out £1800 again next year....

personally i think £1800 for a marauder is daylight robbery and not good value for money....unless of course your talking about getting fully comp, but even fully comp should'nt be that high :-\

Hi guys-I`ve posted a thread before reading this one. I guess I`m not the only one having trouble getting insured. The only quote I could get was over 3k for my Keeway superlight ( 125cc) which only costs bloody 2499. I`m sooo depressed !
