Get a new g/f for valentines day, It will make you feel a whole lot better then trying your best to please the present one. It may not work for everyone, but it has changed my outlook on life.

It depends on how you go about it. If you pick up a box of roses with your paper you'll be sleeping on the couch. If you go out of your way to get a nice box, actually put some effort in, and she might be pleased. Women do really like chocolates.

Seriously though, I'd read this somewhere... I think!! Last year, or maybe the year before... I had my girlfriends Mother steal a teddy bear of hers, and I then basically kidnapped it. I left various notes around the place all through her day. I had loads of different people helpig me out, and I'd leave roses in various different place also. She didn't know who it was, I had her ringing different numbers and I even sent her anonymous e-mails. She was in work but I took the day off. It only went wrong at one point, when she actually caught me, I got too close to her work place and she spotted me in a phone booth!!!
Anyway, eventually it led her to the apartment I was staying at, at which point she of course knew it was me... but even in the apartment I was hidden. I eventually revealed myself and a candlelit dinner was ready!! I thought it was good and she was scared shítless all day

This year I have lunch booked in a nice resturant (http://www.caprice.co.uk/J-Sheekey/) and then on to see Le Mis in the West End (London).

I posted about this before but if your GF likes teddies if you get over to London go to the first floor of Hamilys (on Regents St) and you can make a teddy for her and even put your own voice on the squeeze the paw type thingy*. Then you pick a heart and put it in the teddy name it and get a birthcert and hell they even send out b'day cards to some. So if your gf likes teddys bring her along there and she will love it.

If you are going to go the flowers road get them sent to her workplace/school (for you CS players). They love the fact that everyone see's that someone sent them loads of flowers .

well lads, I think you are all overthinking the whole Valentines Day stuff, lets be honest it is just another excuse day to make you spend money, I'm just impressed if me bloke actually remembers the day at all - so anything on top of that is amazing!
as one of you guys said (can't be bothered to look back) it's the thought that counts and if you are dropping the odd surprise throughout the year that's enough to show her you care (which is all any woman wants!) and if your girlfriend doesn't see that and goes into a sulk then you have to question if she's the one for you in the first place

See you can treat her when you take her to the concert! so it gives you a while to save up for it!!!

But instead i was romantic and thoughtfull and i am bringing my girlfriend to paris instead on a romantic weekend.

Ryanair flights were unbelievably cheep!

It doesnt matter what you buy a girl for Valentines there is always a freind of hers who boyfriend got them something much better than yours. So why try. They'll be happy with u for a couple of hours and then the next its back to square one again with one on the receiving end of a bollocking and u think to urself "Why did I bother?" Not that I'm a bitter man or anything.
