Never had much sucess with US based websites.

They always need a US credit card and a US mailing address really too much hassle.

If anyone here has used one sucessfully let me know.:)

    Thanks

    www.travelnow.com

I booked a flight last Wednesday (NY to Detroit return for $122), received the tickets today (Monday) via FedEx...no problems at all.
They also phoned me just to confirm everything and say thanks and all that, which was nice :)

Expedia and Yahoo and all the well known places are useless to anyone outside the U.S.

I also got a return flight to NY for €378 (via London) on www.gohop.com (same as www.atlas.ie incidently).

Another hotel reservation site, a bit more pricey than that one though.
Still it's got good information on any country/city that you're travelling to.

Has anyone used or even heard of Travel4Less? It says that it's part of lastminute.com. I checked out a return flight to Los Angeles, direct from Dublin, and it looks as though it would only cost £250STG. That can't be right, can it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,905 ✭✭✭bucks73

Havent heard of that site but GBP250 is about EUR400 and Aer Lingus have a fare for EUR298 plus tax to LAX between November and March.

Surely Expedia UK is useful to someone in the UK or Ireland...?

I know it seems quite obvious, but www.hotels.com actually has some quite good prices. When I've booked they've normally been able to give me some good rates. Worth checking out sometime :)

http://www.travellersweb.ws have left me stranded in fusking Lima, Peru. They confirmed my flight and then cancelled it on me. Stranded with credit card hassles.

I would recommend avoiding this company.

If you are going to Spain you should take a look at www.SunHolidayRentals.com . It has a reasonable selection of properties on it that are at decent prices, a lot of them owned by Irish people.

Be carefull with www.go4less.ie , i booked a flight with them and they mailed me a few days later telling me it was unavailable and the best price they could get me there for was over a grand , when it was only costing me 700 originally

I use www.laterooms.com all the time for Ireland, Uk, Belgium and Paris. Excellent reductions, but they get better the later you leave it.

I bought tickets from www.e-travel.ie recently and I have to say I was impressed at how quickly I had my tickets. I bought them on a Wednesday night and they were delivered on the following Friday morning. A couple of gripes though. They mainly issue electronic tickets, but where they issue paper ones you're charged EUR 5.00 for Swiftpost delivery, which I thought was a bit of a cheek. And cheap too, considering I'd just spent three and a half grand with them. The other thing that annoyed me a bit was that they charge EUR 12.50 per ticket up to a maximum of EUR 50 for administrative charges. I'm not sure exactly what this is, but a non-internet travel agent did the same last year because I paid by credit card. How else am I supposed to pay on the net?

A Site I've seen advertised a bit recently is A Guest Of Ireland. It's mainly B&bs and Guesthouses throughout the country but has now added inernational hotels as well.

expedia are useless,, i was booking a great package to rome just a few days ago, and when it came time to give credit card details, it said that they ONLY deliver tickets within the uk... so unless you know someone who lives in the uk who can forward your tickets then you're f****d.. its a shame as well, it was a great price,, but none the less, i booked another a different one yesterday, all be it a couple of hundred euro's extra

I'd recommend TravelAxe to anyone who is booking hotels. It's a great little piece of software which searches hotel rates from many different sources, and links to maps, hotel info etc.

You can download it at www.travelaxe.net

They accept international credit cards for hotel reservations now - I just booked a room for two for five nights in Barcelona in a four star hotel for €400, seems reasonable to me.

They still insist on a UK card for flights though, apparently it's IATA regulations to avoid fraud.

Good package tickets when over in Usa to see the attractions in stated places.Thought they delivered outside US but you can purchase tickets at the parks also.Seems very good value.

Went looking for Disneyland tickets in California which was working out at around $400 just to see Disneyland but with the Citypass I and family can still goto Disneyland for 3 days and get to see other ones as well.
