There is a great shop on Aston Quay, just down from Virgin, near 51B bus stop, the stock a load of jackie Chan movies - all for around £7 - a must for any fan.

Went a bit nuts in there one day and bought about 15 JC movies......the guy thought I was a bit strange.

The only bad thing is you cannot order specific movies, but the guys behind the deak are fairly helpful and will tell you when they are getting in a new shipment of vids :)

I've got a few movies from here, they're excellent (they're recommended in some other thread as well!)...

There are a lot of really good Japanese movies that aren't really kung-fu but have a lot of fighting in them. Movies like B.R. - battle royale - where a class of schoolkids is chosen and put on an island and they have to kill each other until there is only one left, or else they all die. Really gorey and full death but a really good movie and I would say it is a "must buy". Also flicks like Ring , Ring 2 and Ring 0, really good too.

ya Romeo Must die was CLASS! must see me thinks. I seen Kiss of the Dragon in the cinema, didn't think it was great. Altho there was one fight scene where he figts a big black dude that was really cool. Got a bit silly towards the end what with his pins and such.

'The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk' - an old Jet Li film, absolutely brilliant. You should see him take out about 20 guys with a piece of rope, before forcing them to kow-tow to his dead friend whom they just hung. Brilliant.

A definite most see for anybody who loves Kung Fu is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It such a brilliant film and one of my all time favourites. Buy it!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,389 ✭✭✭✭Saruman

    Crouching tiger rules...
bty Jackie Chans "Who am I?" anyone here think there is a lot of Matrix style stuff in it? I think Matrix came after it but it just looks a bit like the style of fighting in the matrix... i could be just imagining things...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Again I say Shaolin Soccer is the dogs bollix :)

To see Kung Fu and Soccer mixed together is just brilliant !

    Gandalf.

I thought the fight on the roof in "Who am I" was one of the best fight scenes I have ever seen. I thought the film as a whole was a bag o shyte but that fight was something else. Thought crouching tiger was overrated but I saw it after all the hype, if I had of seen it earlier I might have enjoyed it more.

i love jackie chan movies. his newish ones in english aren't the best though. you've gotta watch his older ones like wheels on meals, project a and project a part 2 and of course the young master with his opium water.

Black Mask - the movie's pretty good and it has the best action Ive ever seen (Good wire work is one thing, but doing it while moving through the struts of a metal pylon....).
