The ceremony was on last night.

    Some of the winners include:

    Best picture: A beautiful mind
Best Actor: Russell Crowe (A beautiful mind)
Best Supporting actor: Jim Broadbent (IRIS)
Best supporting actress: Jennifer connelly of Labyrinth fame (a beautiful mind)

Best musical/comedy: MOULIN ROUGE (best film of 2001 imho)
Best actress in musical/comedy: Nicole Kidman (Moulin ROUGE)
best original song: Come What may, (Moulin ROuge)
    Best original score: Moulin Rouge.

    not a bad result.

I was absolutely appauled however that baz lurhman didn't get the award for best director. I am so blinded with rage and so will not even post the winner.

    Golden Globe 2002 Winners

Whilst its good to see fellow Aussies take top Honours, it has to be re-stated many times that Moulin Rouge was an absolute pig of a film. How the f*ck it could even be considered is beyond belief. Nicole & Ewan singing for f*cks sake.

And Harry Poofter? well we can leave that to the kiddies and friends of kiddies.

LOTR though is probably the flick of this decade so far. Superb in so many ways.
If it doesn't win Oscars then the whole thing is a sham!

    I'm afraid I gotta agree - Moulin Rouge - I just didn't get it.
LOTR better win something at the oscars, or as Clinical waste says, it will show just what a sham the whole thing is

Yeah, the most popular kids films should always get the Oscars and the ones with the biggest box office gross and great special effects. Sham indeed.

Moulin rouge.... How did you not "get it"? It was a love story, like so many films are, but it was a musical and truly was spectacularspectacular. The acting was superb. Direction and cinematography........c'est tres beaucoup magnifique... Soundtrack....bon nuit monsieur.

Lord of the rings is an excellent film, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The acting was great, the story was great the look of the film was great, but in my opinion, Moulin Rouge stood out from it as a film no one had seen anything like before.

I'd give the 2 films five out of five, but for me, moulin rouge had the edge. Top 2 films of last year certainly.

Yeah right up there with Mary F*ckin Poppins and the Sound of Music.

Maybe when you finish 'school' you can go and see Big people films, then you'll know.
AND don't wear your Harry Potter T.

lord of the rings is nothing like mary poppins OR the sound of music. granted, they have the same basic story lines but Julie andrews just wasn't in Lord of the rings.

i have to go to class now. we're reading "ann and barry talk sh1te about films they have probably never seen". I'm getting a little chilly as well what with only wearing this harry potter t-shirt.

    GRIFENDORE RULE!
