Few interesting nuggets in today's ENN In The Papers:
The [Irish Independent] reports that Bertie Ahern has decided that Ireland is not up to speed when it comes to the full development and implementation of a broadband infrastructure. Although the government and various development agencies have been quick to point out internationally that Ireland is at the cutting edge when it comes to technology developments, the Taoiseach says he has realised that the country is not and has decided to order a fundamental review of strategy in this area.
The [Sunday Business Post] reports that Eircom is attempting to sell up to EUR100 million in property assets
The Sunday Tribune reports that Eircom is in talks with an Israeli supplier, Gilat Satellite Networks, on a potential deal that could lead to the delivery of satellite broadband technology to remote regions, and that Aer Rianta is seeking tenders from companies to provide Internet access areas in Dublin Airport.
In its "Best and Worst" column, The Sunday Independent compares prices for Irish Internet service providers, naming UTV Internet as the cheapest "free" provider (where users pay no subscription but do pay higher call fees) and IOL Gold as the cheapest subscription service.

How do they make out that UTV is cheaper than the rest?

Surely you pay the same for a local call, be it to Indigo go free, Eircom, UTV, Oceanfree, IOLfree etc etc

Are they including the cost of technical support in this or what?

Connect Ireland is the cheapest if you're in Dublin.
