Proposal: Working Groups - Membership

    Membership Working Group

I've agreed to head up the Membership Working Group. Many people have
mentioned the need for more activities and involvement as well as a need
for more communication between the committee and wider membership. This
working group seeks to address these issues.

    Purpose of Group:

Communication between the committee, other working groups, the wider
membership as well as the public at large. This will be done through
the issuing of newsletters and reports and the organising of events and
activities and, of course, other ideas suggested on the forum.

    Tactics:

    1. Communicating with members.

Production of regular updates, newsletters and announcements. These
will be compiled from reports from the other working groups.

    2. Recruitment.

We need to increase the current membership of about 1,250. The
membership WG will be responsible for generating ideas on how to do
    this.

    3. Organising Events and campaigns.

These will include the AGM, seminars, regional meetings and protests
like the Blackout or letter writing campaigns. Speakers for events will
probably be got from the lobbying working group.

    4. Feedback from members.

The group will be responsible for accepting and clarifying ideas from
members and passing them on to the relevant WG or the committee.

    5. Marketing

Publicising events and protests. Issuing press releases through the PRO
    (Adam Beecher), etc.

Further suggestions are, of course, welcome.

    Who should join?

Anyone who enjoys organising events and can spare a bit of time
(probably a couple of hours a week). It would be good to have a
geographical spread of people to help organise regional events but this
    is not essential.

To volunteer, send an email to mike@irelandoffline.org with the subject line "Working Groups".
