    Now i've been told that if one pairs down the two inside wires of the telephone wires coming from the digibox and hooks them up a 9 v battery, you can get free PPV. while connected just order the channels you want.

    Anyone tried this and if so does it work?
    Might 'ave a go meself.

    :confused::confused::confused:

    Apparently this is just another rumour. I have not tried it but I did see it feature on "Sathelp's" webpage where it listed all the Sky Digital "Scams" which dont work.
    As far as I am aware, the digibox only needs the telephone line to order the PPV movie by remote control. The digibox itself has a memory which, has reached its limit, the info is passed to sky and then they bill you. (I may be incorrect)
    Perhaps Charles, IrishBlimp,Tony or the other contributers will expand on this!!!!!!!!!

    Hmmmm..

    As far as I know the battery thing may work fo a while, but what's really happening is that your digibox has a built-in credit limit of £50. You won't get to see any more than the value of that.

    Then the digibox will try to make a call to let Sky know what they should bill you.

    If the call isn't made, your £50 credit will disappear (ie no more freebies) and Sky will question why your digibox hasn't been in contact.

    In the long run it's probably not a great idea,

    Sky seem to have all the angles sewn up (which is probably only right, legally).

    All PPV's that you view are stored in the smart card eeprom chip,how this is stored is yet to be cracked, so when you reach the credit limit, inorder to buy more PPV's you will have to actually call sky and empty the eeporm data, thus getting your charged £50.

    getting PPV's on loan..shall we say, is much easier, just stick a "1" before the prefix dialing code but again eventually you will have to pay or no more PPv's.
