    New years is Overrated

Queuing up for ages at ATM to get some cash for pints,

Squeeze into Packed pub and shell out £10. for two drinks,

Do the countdown with loads of incoherent drunks bawling out the words to Auld Angsign*spell*, again and again..again.......again

Queue again for nightclub that charges £30, for mediocre DJ and some cheap drink promotion,

Lose jacket in club, due to excessive drunkeness,

Freeze my b0ll0x off at the taxi rank for 5 hours, and having to eventually give up and walk home.

For a change this year I think I will just buy a couple of bottles of champers and relax it up at home with the girlfriend. ;)

I feel like a Grandad, but I just couldnt be bothered to go through all the hassel this year, and I'm sure some of you feel the same way!

I copped on about 4 years ago, that it's not worth goin out on the rip in town or whatever on New Years. Sessions in the gaff are the way to go... great laugh.

This year I'm staying in a hotel which provides us with all the meals, drinks entertainment we need. Big crowd of us. No q'ing and no shíte waiting for taxis!! :) sound

Last year myself and the lads went out at about 6pm. By 10:30 we were langers, and between all our drunken heads we noticed that it took about 20mins to get a pint at the bar. By the time you got back with your new pint, half of it was on the floor and on people's jackets (dissaster).

We ended up going back to my place before 11, and raiding my drinks cabinet, and had better craic than in the pub IMO.

    New years eve, is about:
    1. Expensive pints/pubs/clubs
    2. Queues
    3. No taxies
    4. Narcy bouncers

That alone just doesn't do it for me. In about a week I am moving in to a new house, so I think that is more than enough of an excuse to keep me at home. :)

Spot on house parties rock no matter what time of year.
    • You can drink excessive amounts of alcohol for a lot cheaper then in the pub!
    • There is no charge in and even if there is there is always a window open somewhere
    • Dont have to get a taxi home
    • Beds are less then a minute away;);)

They only way to go for new years is house parties. Town sucks at the best of times, and new years is by far the worst (in town that is).

I'll be working for New Years -... behind a bar. The thing is that all the staff enjoy working there and get on pretty well with most of the customers.

We'll probably be calling last orders at 11.30pm, closing for the ten minutes from 11.55pm to 12.05am and reopening to finish up for another 15 mins or so.

Sounds fine to me... we all get to celebrate together.

Pity the band we have on that night are fairly shit though... but who cares, eh? :)

Over here(Australia) they seem to have it sorted. I have the choice of going to a warehouse party which is $120 (bout 50 quid) that price includes all the food and drink plus amazing views of the fireworks. Or I can go to the rocks(temple bar type area in Sydney) where the streets willl be closed of to trafic and all the bars are on the street.

As I am heading home straight after new year I am going to go for it big style but I have to agree with the majority on this bioard that New Year is a big let down and Dublin city sucks donkey balls. But as I am away from home might as well live it up. Viva Harmonica

new years '98 i went to the Gig in the point to see Bjorn again and the bootleg beatles. I was only 17 at the time, so it was pretty sweet.

    New Years 99...... SUPERBO.

around 20 of us rented a house down in Killarney for a week. It was about 5 miles outside killarney and we were completely isolated. TWAS SOOOO SWEET. We drank, laughed, played bop it. Then, when midnight came around, we got Naked and danced around the farmyard with the owners sheep.

    what a night.

Last year i stayed in Leixlip. we went down to Rock-a-fellas and got polluted. they opened the door between the ROCK and the Loft for an uber nightclub. Fairly ****e place, but a good time was had by all.

This year, i don't know what i'll do. Maybe a house party........maybe the Frames at Vicar street.......maybe the O-ZONE. Who can tell???????
