Right, im installing debian, everything is going grand, I select x windows complete and core to install,

I then get asked my connection, permanent or ppp I select ppp, I then get asked for Linux homepage, I press cancel.

im then asked to set up a default x sever it says something like vgas sever as default, i say ok it then asks me to config XFree86, i say yes.

    i then get this error

    x11transSocketUNIXConnect:can't connect: errno=111

    XF86 file not created.

Ok so don't set up the X-Server right then and there yes, skip it and return to it later and then once the install is finished as root run xf86config or XFree86Setup ok?

hmm I might also choose the svga (or vesa) server unless you know for sure that X currently supports your graphics card.
It sounds as though you might be having a premissions problem though?
